Hey everyone! New guy here to the TW. I will be buying a new Taco before this year is up but, like everyone else, I'm looking to get the best bang for my buck. Since the 2010's just came out not too long ago ... any ideas on how long the whole "new model" sales pitch will last? Meaning ... how long before one will start seeing better haggling prices at stealerships and online. And ... does anyone have any idea when and if there will be any rebates/incentives on the new Tacomas. Thanks in advance.

Heres my opinion....I just bought a 2010.....hardly any dealers in my area had any, let alone any that were with the TRD option...all of the left over 2009's were gone because of the cash for clunker deals..so now the folks without a clunker to trade have no bargaining power (dealers having left over 2009 stock) and the manufacturers not shipping a lot of cars because they wanted to clear their inventories of the 2009's..I think you will see less haggling...

I have always used Carmax for my car purchases, this time I went with a local delaer after talking to Carmax...just for the fact that the Carmax dealer explained to me in detail (I have used the same sales guy before) their pricing structure which IMHO is fair...but my local dealer 6 minutes from me met the same price...

They will work with you but I don't think they are going to do much in the future...but this is my opinion :p

i just bought a 2010, which is being located. i went with an access cab base 4x4, which they did not have on the lot.

same deal with low inventory from the CFC.

i worked 3 dealers, started all online, go internet prices, found what invoice was, and began haggling.

in the end, i was a few hundred under invoice on the taco,

also bought a 2010 camry se under invoice as well. it did help buying 2, but dealers want to sell right now, so if you an buy, it is a great time to do so

Sounds like you did the same as me....we started at 9:00 am with dealers within 150 miles and by 11:00 pm I was pulling in my driveway with my 2010 DC....I got mine for about 500 under...

Funny thing is the dealer I bought from when I got there they said they had none, I told them their website said so...they looked around and it was in the back of the building and still was wrapped in plastic and needed to be prepped...I told them start prepping it!!

It was a good experience for me

i recently purchased a 2010 taco in connecticut. because of the cash-for-clunkers there are only a few 4x4s left and they were all '09s. not to much room to bargain down the dealer, but was still able to get a great price on my single cab sr5

i just paid 23,000 for a 2010 4x4 access cab. sticker was 25,625. they gave me 2000 for my 1998 taco and i offered 22500. they came back with 23000 and i said DEAL. they said that toyota had already taken 900 off. some pre-dealer thing toyota is doing... meaning the "true" price was 900 more than the 25625 sticker. so i felt like i got a good deal.

what it amounted to was 26,525-900-625-2000 for my truck = 23000
