The 4wd and traction control/auto LSD are separate systems, what exactly is it doing?

The 4wd. Will not engage the light just blinks so i cleaned the actuator made sure the motor had power but still nothing.
The trac control light flashes when it should engage but it doesnt engage.
Im still confused on my lsd. I have no switch so im guessing its mechanical which from what i understand all trd sport models have lsd. But it doesnt engage. I do not have a switch for lsd

Which actuator did you check? There is 2 one is the Transfer Case Actuator (on the back of the transfer case) and the other is the ADD Actuator (on the front differential).
Some simple things you can check first are the vent hoses on both actuators and the grounds on the back of the passenger side cylinder head.
If you can check your limit switch voltages as outlined in the thread below and compare them with the expected values and post your findings we can narrow down where the problem is.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/4wd-system-operation-help-thread.742420/

All traction control does is limit engine power in the event of wheel slip to help limit wheel slip, if the light flashes and you lose power when your wheels start to spin its working as intended.

LSD uses the ABS/Traction control to simulate a mechanical LSD, it can be turned on by pressing the traction control button one time.

I checked and cleaned the add actuator the motor operates as it should
The trac control light blinks engine looses power but only one tire spins the other does nothing
From what ive read its an auto lsd in the 2010 trd sport. Which is what confuses me i dnt understand why it does not transfer power
I have no codes at clear dash

The dealer just called me back.
He said its the actuator on the t case.
In your opinion could that cause the lsd not to work. I understand that keeping 4wd from working but to me i dnt understand how that would keep lsd from working

No, the Auto LSD and 4wd are totally separate systems.
The Auto LSD has to be turned on by pressing the traction control button, it is not on all the time. See the thread I posted above for more information on all the different drive modes.

Hate to ask a goofy question. There is no button or switch for the lsd. But i do know that all trd models have some type of lsd. Im just confused as hell about mine.
I owned toyota trucks for yrs then went to jeeps theres nothing on a jeep i dnt understand or cant work on, but this tacoma has me twisted lol

TRD OffRoads have a rear locker and 09+ models have active traction control. All 09+ 6 lug models I believe have the Auto LSD.
Read through this thread, it explains all the drive and traction control modes on 09+ models.

Yea the LSD has to be turned on, it's not always on.
Once you get everything figured out Tacoma's especially TRD OffRoads are pretty capable offroad in slippery conditions.
I can't speak for how well they do in ice and snow as we don't get that here but I've never got mine stuck when it gets muddy out.

    No problem:thumbsup:
Hopefully the dealer is right on the 4wd and isn't just guessing at it.

I know the add actuator works cause i cleaned and tested. But the t case actuator is more expensive so i let them have that one. The guy at the dealer is cool though he said he would take care of it. Im gonna make sure all is good before i bring it back. It’s embarrassing gettin stuck in your yard lol ya know

    For sure.
The main thing that messes up the actuators is the vent hoses cracking and/or coming off, also it should be engaged once a month or so whether you need it or not to keep everything moving.
