Hello all, been on this site before(very helpful!)but never really needed to post a question to now.. Hopefully someone has possibly dealt with this or something similar before.. I feel like an idiot as I've replaced struts on a bunch of other vehicles in my time, but this is somethin different.. so,here goes.. My right front strut on my 2010 tacoma 4x4 snapped at the bottom, right above the eyebolt. i went online to order the replacement but there were like 8 different choices.. i ordered what looked to be what I needed. compared the length of the new one compared to what came off and seemed to be about the same length.. installed the new one and ever since, the steering is ridiculously shady/scary, like hitting a bump or uneven surface in the road causes the whole thing to steer like the wheel is off the ground or something, hard to explain, just very different than it was... i plan on replacing the drivers side as well(would have at the time but is my only vehicle and funds were tight) what I'm wondering though is if what I ordered is not correct? i raised the front end of the truck up and compared the RF New strut compared to the LF Old strut still attached and can visibly see that the stem length of the new strut is 1" longer in length than the LF original. so i guess my question is, could it be acting this way because the drivers side is still the original with almost 220k miles on it and the new pass. side has less than 20 miles on it, making it act the way that it does due to extremely old n worn out on one side, and brand new on the other?? any and all responses positive or negative are greatly appreciated! I've replaced a lot of struts on other vehicles in the past and have never had this issue.. this time though, i was rushed, doing outside in the middle of winter after working 3rd shift in a freckin carport so it was rushed, now I'm just trying to figure it out cause like I mentioned, it's scary to even drive but it's my only transportation currently.. thanks!

Pictures and manufacture/part number of the parts you used would be really helpful.

If you hit that hole hard enough to break a strut, you could have bent other things

You never replace just one side when it comes to shocks or struts, you need to do both. The damping and rebound are probably worlds apart with those miles on the original and can cause handling issues. There may be other issues but that is certainly one of them.

Did you replace the entire strut assembly or just the shock in the assembly? Is the new one assembled and mounted correctly?
