    Hey all,
Ok so I have a 2010 Tacoma and today I noticed an exhaust hanger dangling under the truck I stick my head under and look at where it connected to frame and it is rusted pretty good, so I took a screwdriver and poked it and it goes right through. So I plan on taking it to a dealership this week for the frame inspection. Is this going to qualify for a new frame? I had a 99 that they sprayed where the frame rotted a year or two outside of the warranty so I was boned. Hoping this one doesn’t go that way. Let me know what you guys think, located in RI. 353135BE-2AFB-40C8-99DA-E8C6B500D5DD.jpg08CB348E-DE11-4EC2-AB35-35444AAFD45E.jpg78A6D676-8B5A-444F-8208-C5792058FB0D.jpg

Depends when the truck was purchased. You probably have 10 years from the original sold date of the truck. Odds are you’re out of warranty.

Most likely there is not a frame replacement on toyota's dime in your future.
Salvage what you can and start searching for a donor or replacement.

I believe the frame warranty is 12 years from date of first use.
I’d get to the dealership quick. Maybe ask around and see what dealerships are more “friendly” on qualifying for a replacement.

I think the hole needs to be 10mm or larger in diameter? @Muddinfun

Just for reference my 05 got a frame replacement under the Toyota recall 3 yrs ago. I was about 1 month out from it being out of the recall. You might want to take it to your yota dealer and see. The recall frame replacement is much more than the frame.

It is 12 years from date of first use. My 2010 was originally purchased (by me) in August of 2009, so I have a few more months to find a hole.

Try to find evidence of when the truck was first purchased / registered. You probably are still in the window of eligibility, but that window is closing fast.

Yes the extended warranty or frame recall is 12 years from date of first use on 2005 to 2010 Tacoma so i should be good until September 2022. We’ll I’ll be calling the dealership this week and see what they say.

I don't know if you are in the northern end of RI, but if you are, I recommend Toyota of Smithfield, the tech that does all of the frame replacements has been doing them for years, so he knows his stuff (his name is Todd, he is nice guy to talk to). When I had my frame replaced a couple years ago, Todd did a great job, and I didn't have to go back to have anything fixed.

Just chiming in for future searches. Bought my 2011 start of 2020. When I bought it, IIRC the 2011 wasn't even considered for the warranty. Well it is now, and the dealer did the work.

FWIW I had my 2010s frame replaced 3 years ago for a hole that size probably smaller. If your southwest RI I got mine replaced at McGee Toyota in Dudley MA.

Had my 08 in two years ago for frame inspection they treated it and told me it was good and it was guaranteed for another 10 years? Is this correct?

This is what I have been told, but I have heard conflicting info. I personally know the manager in the service dept at my dealer, and I've been meaning to go in for other reasons. When I bump into him I will ask. I think some dealers have *other*? programs. There was something mentioned on this forum a while back that if the dealer did some.... something... and you had them flush/fill your trans before 100k they would warranty it another 100k. I asked mine about that, they had not heard of such a thing. Maybe there should be a mega sticky of who was told what at each dealer, just in general.

You’re only covered for 12 years from the in service date. Even if they treat your frame your coverage is over 2020.
