I have the same thing. It does make me curious what's going on, but I'm not too worried about it.

I had the same thing on my 09, I read on here that I was not holding the key long enough. Something about the fuel draining back. So I just paid a little more attention to keeping the key turned for a split second longer and all is good. When you first get it turn the key to on but don't start the truck, wait just a second or two and than try starting it, that will give the pump a chance to prime.

If you are cranking it longer than 3 seconds, take it in. This has been an issue in past Tacomas as well.

No such problem with my 2010.

2500 miles so far and cranks fine but it is garage kept so it is never really that cold in the monrings when I crank it. Seems to crank fine after work sitting in cold weather all day. I learned from having two other toyota trucks in the past you can't bump the key and expect it to start. Got to hold it on a few seconds.

Mines has been a little late cutting over lately. It's a 2010 with 2200 miles. But its 8 degrees outside. It has not failed to cut over though.

I had the same problem on my 05 last week and then my battery died. Funny thing is my dad has an 07 and his battery died the week before, since he was under the 3/36 Toyota replaced it at no charge. They were even going to send a tow truck to pick it up if he couldn't get it down there.

Mine did it a few times when new/within the first year. Hasn't done it in a while (I did take it in to the dealer though alhough they said they didn't do anything to it).

My '10 has 1700 on OD. It has done this three times. Never first start in the morn. Always once at work in the afternoon. It did last week 50+ outside. I am going to take in it anyway. Just find it alarming that a new truck does this.

I've been having the same problems with mine, but I will be seeing the dealer on Monday about my heater making a weird noise so I will bring this issue up then.

My '06 has done this twice with my remote start since I got it 5 months ago. It tries to crank over 3 times and then it faults out. The starter is running for 3 seconds at each of 3 attempts. I then got in and it cranked right up with the key. Weird. What are these tsbs you speak of? What repair are they doing? I'm out of warranty. :(
