Hello, looking to see if anyone has run into this.

I have a 2010 Tacoma 4x4 with 8000 miles on it, tonight I jumped in and went to go and my steering felt quite stiff just like you had no power steering on a heavier vehicle and the steering wheel is not returning to center. It was fine last time I drove it earlier today.

Did a little searching on the web and seen reference to this problem but no answers.

Going to call the dealer tomorrow - thouht I would check with the large communit first.

    Thanks

    Wayde

Did you check to see if there was sufficient power steering fluid? Odd for such a new car, but my 94 corolla does that often, it stiffens up A LOT, but a little PS fluid and its back to normal. just my 2 cents

Yes, I did drive it, other than being stiff and not centering, nothing felt out of place.

In my research last night I found T-SB-0119-10 for intermediate shaft rattle, I noticed this rattle ever since I first got it and never paid much attention to it.

So off to the dealer to get some work done..

interested to find out what it is. I've had that problem a few times on other vehicles when the rack boots would tear and contaminate the rack.

it may be the power steering pump if the fluid is normal

Warranty....I would have Toyota look at it and make it brandy new again.

IM sent. Got a couple questions about this. I'm interested in what symptoms this produced and what all ended up needing repair.

    Thanks

Took it in, they didn't diagnose anything wrong, I also drove another new one on the lot, it actually felt the same - maybe I was just imagining it, I don't think so but will monitor it closely.

I'll let you know if anything developes.

    Old thread but:

Spray some penetrating oil into the steering U-joint. If you get under the front of your truck on the drivers side, you'll see it there before it enters the steering rack.

If that loosens it up, spray some lube in there. It's not a permanent fix, but it'll get you buy for a while.
