And the 2010 FJ gets a revised dual vvti 4.0 with other updates cranking out 260HP and 270 torque on regular fuel while getting a MPG boost over the old 4.0.

Not that it matters on a Tacoma forum, but the newest generation of F-150's debuted in the summer of 2003 for the 2004 model year.

Did the price of the FJ go up to cover the increased cost of the engine?

...Sort of. The platform for the truck does indeed date to the early 90s, as that was the last time they significantly changed the frame. The 98 redesign boxed the front half, but didn't change any actual dimensions.

IFS was also added in 98, along with cosmetic body changes.

In other words, the vast majority of the Ranger still dates back to the Bush 1 administration, and some of it has been around for longer than that.

be happy that the taco isn't getting serious changes untill a few years from now. Wouldnt it be a bitch if you bought a new '08/09 and than your value tanked because the next years model was greatly improved ?

not saying that the 2nd gens are better at all but the 1st gens still hold their value better than any vehicle out there

Not really. I don't buy vehicles to sell them...the value when I am "done" with a vehicle has usually been scrap metal value.

I know people who bought '04 Tacomas who still have them, and they aren't bothered that another generation came out the next year.

I wouldn't be surprised the taco gets auto up/down on all windows as almost the full lineup of Toyota gets them for 2010 (tundra, camry, 4runner, prius, etc)

Just bought my 3rd Tacoma 2010 Dbl cab 4X4 White Sport -Loaded-Backup camera kinda silly. Get this --paid $28,000 for my 2008 in Nov. 07'-put 21,000 miles on it and THE DEALER gave me $23,500 for it on trade. I paid $29,400 for this one but it has a few more options. I have already taken out the secondary air filter and bought a K&N air filter, all within my first 4 days of owning it. These trucks are awesome. I'm an insurance agent and I trade every 2 years. I always bought Chev. Z71's (6 in a row) until I tried the Tacoma. I like the tightness of the truck--turning radius excellent, even with short bed double cab. On the highway, the passing power from 65 to 90 is awesome.
I looked at the Tundra but I don't care for the big bulk trucks anymore. The Tundra is a GREAT truck if you need a bigger unit though.
The Tacoma for me is the ultimate truck. They call it a small truck but My truck is not small. It weights 3900 pounds. Take it from a 54 year old truck expert. BUY A TACOMA!!!! CT

Funny this comes up. I was looking at the cupholder in my '05 4Runner just yesterday, and was thinking that it seems more useful than the one in my '10 Tacoma. Styrofoam drinks get stuck in the cup holders on my Tacoma--they don't in the 4runner.
