Heyo! It's pretty cool to take over this project. I've come up with some more goals and have a few questions regarding the best approach!

    - So since the Haltech ECU is running the show, is it currently operating the VVT? If not, I've been looking into finding a way to seize the exhaust cam functions in the future and maybe even lock them in a -3/-4 degree position. Perhaps allow the pressure circuit to bleed through the gears, but seize them with aluminum wedges in the right position to prevent any movement. If this sounds crazy, yeah, you're probably right since I have pretty much never touched VVT engines running standalone. Please advise. The 2010 has dual VVT, right? I have to double check now...

    - Looking into fabricating a traction bar as well but haven't searched the threads to see what kind of designs are out there yet. I really don't want to start fabricating a 4-link setup just yet, and I'm not dropping $500 on a kit either. o_O

    - Hopefully by this weekend I'll have some photos showing my new clutch pedal bushing design. That HD pressure plate has really put a beating on the factory plastic bushing, and this should improve pedal feel drastically.

    Current thoughts -
holy hell guys... I cannot stay out of boost for my life and the 7.2 MPG shows. The truck runs great but I think I need a MPG tune with super low boost :turtleride: because my foot doesn't listen to my wallet. What an experience it has been so far. There is nothing funnier than blowing by a dude in a straight-piped V6 Mustang in a truck filled with plants and furniture. That was worth it right there. Since I'm in Miami, there will be more detailed events in the future. What a sleeper :bananadance:

Your Haltech is controlling your intake cam's variable phasing.

    2005-2015 Tacoma 1GR-FE's only have single VVT-I.

Look up the Cal-Tracs for a point of reference. They work great, as I have them. However, there can always be room for ingenious improvements.

    Yup^^^

To be more precise, to the inspection cover on the passenger side of the timing cover.

Thanks guys! Hustling to make cash for universal intercooler piping to make my own, Bov and flange, turbo air filter, new aem wb02 and aem map sensor, ihk24 plugs, and new exhaust manifold gaskets. Pretty positive I have everything else I need from the used kit I got. Another good question i have is the map sensor. Was thinking the aem 3.5bar one but the offer several and what's y'alls input?

Which ever of the two sensor styles they offer, regardless of BAR rating, get the slightly more expensive one.

Made my prototype clutch pedal bushing today and installed it for testing. Initial results are instant. That slight less bit of slop really helps with gear changes. The original design has poor tolerances and allows the pedal to rock all over the place and deflect your input. I did write down the dimensions I ended up with. I'll be making these on the cheap as a kit if I can get at least 20 people interested in them.

Changed out the brake pads as well. You could say they've been well used. Bled with DOT 4 and the fluid had some gunk in it, but nothing to worry about. Installed were the StopTech ST40 Sport brake pads, since all the exotic offerings were $100 plus. I don't play that shit in Miami traffic, and these front rotors have maybe 30k left on them before they are below spec.

Truck seemed to be running excellent today. I think they finally changed out to some better gas at my frequented gas station? :anonymous:

Now I really want to look into buckling down the engine and transmission. Do people do one piece ALU driveshafts on these trucks?

Go hit up the Orion station on Red Road and around 199. Use the pump with the yellow handle. You will thank me later.....your gas mileage wont go up but you will thank me.
As for the lower boost tune, I can assist if need be....

I have a 4" aluminum one piece. I also have a T56 though, so won't be able to give you any dimensions.

Having a poly transmission support as well as engine mounts has stiffened up the driveline nicely and made it all more responsive.
