i have a 5speed PreRunner and I love it. I put in a k&n drop in air filter and took the secondary air filter out and now i feel like i have just the right 'oomph'. I drag raced a buddy of mine the other day who has a straight6 in his Cherokee and beat him by about half a car length. I think it might have been the other way around if i had an auto.

I prefer the slight more power of the 5speed for off roading and to quench my inner nascar driver on the highway and down shift around grandmas. But, you might be that grandma and never take your truck off road and maybe even want to enjoy a mcmuffin on the way to work every now and then. All depends preference and vehicle application.

After thinking forever about it, I went with the access cab manual 2.7. Just made sense. Lasts longer then a auto when your working the smaller engine, $1000 cheaper to start, control it better, tow something with more confidence, and to be honest, when I went back and fourth the 2.7 manual was almost as powerfull feeling as the v6 auto

well mine is a 4x4 so maybe 2-4 better. But thats enough. Say its 3 mpg more, 3x21 = 63 .... 63 x 1.6 = 101 kms more per tank. Today, when I buy gas I feel like Im treating myself to something after a job well done at work. $1.34 here in NS, so really thats about 13 liters I save a fillup, and about $17.50 a tank. I average about 35 tanks or more a year so thats $612.50 a year cheaper on gas. Totally worth it for moi

Here here. Just traded my '02 Z/28 (also with the 6spd) and it's been tough getting used to this (relatively) torqueless 4-banger (no more rolling stop signs in 3rd or 4th), but at least I can keep her in the powerband when I need to and drive economically when I don't (the mileage improvement is nothing to sneeze at). As for the manual, it's quicker stoplight to stoplight, more economical at speed, mechanically simpler, and less likely to break. What's not to love?
