True, intermittent rocks though right? I totally would sport them if I was sponsored to do such things in Moab. They are so soft and grabby I think they’d be awesome, just highly siped.

Thanks, I had got the lights for the Tundra I sold and got the brackets when Caliraised LED has a sale.

Your welcome, I really am glad I didn’t get an automatic!!!

yes intermitent, sometimes a cap here and there, or a 90* rock face haha in my experience, most trails are gravel and loose big rocks or mud haha

Haha we can talk geology a bit but I am far from knowing everything! I've been a soil tech for 3 years, did a few drillings too for sampling, but I was more expert in concrete than soil tho lol

But yes you are right, till can be found at some spots lol in my area it is mostly clay, brown clay, then gray and sometimes with shades of blue. When you get out of the valley you find more sand pits, and more natural deposits of gravel, and mountains made of granit. Those spots are nice to wheel! Avoid clay as much as possible since nothing seems to have traction in that crap:rofl:

My buddy uses those tires and they do pretty good in the rocks. When I was in Moab I saw someone running them and they looked fine. Moab actually has a lot of traction as it is and is not slick.

Also interested in the answer! I have a set of 884 and 5100 waiting to be installed and still debating if I should get JBA UCA or if it will be fine? 2.7 weight less than the 4.0 but is it light enough to give too much lift for the stock uppers ?

@Kemosabe im on 5100s @ .85 with eibach 1.6 springs to give full 3 inches on stock UCA (have been running this for 3 years). I also have SPC UCAs to go on when i make this switch.

I’m happy with the 884s on 5100s and I think I have about 2.25” to 2.5” of lift but I’m not really sure as I removed the spacer lift and it seems lifted more than before. I am not using a aftermarket UCA but may go that route some day.

I’ve read that the regular cab with 885s UCAs are needed-

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/vrods-truck-nudes-sfw-2012-regular-cab-4x4.433794/#post-12524252

On my regular cab...884s with Bilstien 5100s on the zero settings I am less than 3” lift and ride just fine without aftermarket UCAs.

Edit: if I recall correctly...the only difference between the 884 spring and 885 spring is 10 mm, thus for the 2.7L regular cab and access cab about 2.5” of lift is attained.

On headstrong it says 5mm, close enough haha! Glad it doesn't take uca for that setup, but I still have upper balljoints to change sometime, mine are cracked... might pull the trigger on jba or wait for a group buy

I just found your build thread, and reading through it I see you like my drawer platform!

I'm still on page 4 reading your thread, so I haven't seen if you have build anything yet. If you have questions about mine, just ask.

    Back to reading... ;)

Haven’t got around to building the platform yet but I plan to do so soon.

Installed the ‘snorkel on a budget’ hilux 167, I ordered it from eBay with direct shipping from China.

My experience was decent- I made my own template for the holes and used a hole saw and enlarged it with a jig saw. So for those really wanting to budget the cost not buying a hole saw, and already have a jig saw handy- it worked well. Cleaned out burrs from the new holes and painted it. Used some velro rather than drilling holes for the pillar install. I smeared in some RTV after to fill in the minor gaps.
