Howdy fellow Tacoma owners, I'm new to the forum and am excited to have recently purchased a 2011 Sport 4x4. I previously owned and loved a '97 4Runner that got me hooked on Toyota 4x4s.

Anyhow, I've learned that Tacomas starting in 2012 have a backup camera/ mirror display that has the handy distance indicator lines to tell you how close you are to backing into something. My 2011 doesn't have those lines, and teamed with the smallish mirror display, well, it doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

I would hope that one with indicator lines is more useful. Would retrofitting a 2012+ mirror be all that is required? Toyota parts counter quoted me $700 for a complete system, and that's way more than I wanna pay.

Or is some kind of aftermarket system with a larger display (perhaps mounted to the dash) available?

Thanks in advance for any input!
