This is spot on, it's useless now days. Now, Paul knows what he doing, he stirs the pot just ever so slightly to keep both sides riled up.

    From Bleacher report:

"There's one obvious choice for the SEC in the east and it's Virginia Tech. The Hokies are more SEC than they are ACC. Why? Because football is king in Blacksburg and it always will be. Yes, the Hokies haven't won a national title, but they also don't have the long-standing history of a lot of other top echelon teams in the nation.
That doesn't mean the Hokies don't have a great tradition. If you've ever been to or watched a game that was held in Lane Stadium you can see that it's a hostile, passionate environment; they just got to the party a little bit late. The Hokies are the class of the ACC (for whatever that's worth), and they've only been there seven years.
Sources within the school have said that they're "staying put" and we're "meant to be in the ACC" and "this is where we've always wanted to be." But, that doesn't mean they have to stay. The Hokies would be unlikely to dominate the SEC upon entry like they're currently doing in the ACC, but they would make some noise.
Add to the picture that the school would likely generate close to $10 million of revenue more than they're currently making, and that's just for football. Football is the moneymaker in college athletics and it's the Hokies best and most prominent program.
If the SEC does expand to 14 teams, we already know one team that wears maroon will say yes; but will the Hokies? We'll have to wait and see."

This is what gets me, my Dawgs have gotten the reputation of being thugs and most of which is just partying, which is going to happen, particularly at a party school like UGA. Seems that I get more bashing for the Dawgs when other schools have had much worse stuff going on. But I guess maybe I catch a lot of that from the nerds. (GT). But of course they're gonna hate.

Stop crying. I do what I want. It's one post. Go back to suckin on Bevo's dick.

They're talking "death penalty". I'd hate to see somethin like that happen to the U. Yea, it's ridiculous, but you can't basically end someone's football program.

Yea...Luckily GT sucks balls. I just ask them how what their record against us is in the last 10 years...

    I guess thugs > nerds.

I disagree. If you can't handle playing football by the rules everyone is suppose to play by, then you shouldn't be playing. I have an issue with these players breaking rules and not getting punished. If your a student and you get caught doing drugs, stealing, hookers, etc. There is a very good chance you will be removed from the school. But if your an athlete you get a slap on the hand.

So what you're saying is there should be no college football? If you don't think this is going on at basically every school in the country, I think you're sorely mistaken. They just haven't been caught yet. The only way they're gonna get rid of this crap is to make benefits legal. I agree that some of the stuff these guy "allegedly" did is disgusting (Playing to have an abortion paid for, among others), But they shouldn't end the program, and the dreams of who knows how many kids who have always wanted to play for the U, because some kids in the past took advantage of their connections and collected on their talents. That's the way things happen in real life. You're good at something, you get rewarded. These kids get rewarded with scholarships. They get to go to school and play football, while the school makes millions of dollars off of them. I think "student athletes" deserve more than a scholarship. The star players aren't there to go to school anyway. They're there because they have to be there to make it to the next step. The school is basically wasting its money by sending these players to school.

I'm sorry, I went to college and had to pay out of state. I have student loans for the next 10 years because of it. Yes it was my choice to go there. These "student athletes" get a free education. That SHOULD be enough. Maybe 10 (that is being VERY generous) players will go to the NFL on a team within a 4 year period. The rest move on, into something else.

Stanford has it worked out best. If you want to play for us, your gonna have the grades and other necessary qualifications to get into the school first. Student should always come first before athlete. Period.

    Should. But doesn't.

They get a free education, and the (not-for-profit) school makes millions of dollars (profit). In my opinion, if I'm bringin in money for someone, I expect some money in return. If my work is better than everyone else's, I expect a raise. I understand that some get full rides and some don't. These kids know they can make money, and, let's be honest, most of them probably didn't exactly come from families that were too well off. (I know it's a generalization/stereotype, but you know what I'm saying.) It's the first time they've really been able to use their talents to make some cash. You don't think they're gonna take it? Make it legal, this all goes away.

Don't you think there is a difference between a free meal, maybe a free suit and a blow job and a jacob watch? Not to mention Devin Hesters diamond for his wifes engagment ring?

    Is what it is.

Prolly 10 other boosters from 10 other Universities shitting their pants
knowing they have done the same thing. (hoping they dont get caught)

Death Penalty for The U? Hate to see it for the sake of football its self, but if they (Uni of Miami) knew about all this & chose to turn a blind eye? Then yes, shut em down.

Interesting story- my sister was married to a guy who played for SMU back during the DP era. Crazy shit he would tell...

    Examples-
X amount of $ for a fumble recovery
    X amount of $ for a int
    X amount of $ TD's

    etc etc etc..

Think thats a thing of the past? highly doubtful imo

7 coaches and 3 admin knew about this. Yeah I think they deserve to get shut down for the year. Everyone who was involved loses eligibilty. Those who were not involved are able to transfer with no penelty from the NCAA. And this Nevin Shapiro said he was giving bounty fees

If the booster thinks they're "worth it", then no. I wouldn't expect them to give a punter that, but Starting QB/RB, maybe so. It all depends on the worth of the player.

Here's the deal; I'm not saying it's right. I'm saying it happens all the time, and it's not going to stop. Don't shut down the current Miami football program because things have happened in the past. Punish them, and punish them hard, but don't kill the program. It seems to be getting worse, but that could be because of 24 hour sports coverage. It could be because it's actually happening more now than it used to. Give your cash cows some perks and I think things will calm down. This whole thing is awful for NCAA sports in general, not just football. If they legalized a few perks, we wouldn't have to hear about this all the time.

Kinda reminds me of the "Legalize marijuana" fight. A lot of people say it doesn't hurt anyone, and everyone does it anyway, why not legalize it? That's basically what I'm saying here. If the players can make extra cash, why not let em? Why is that gonna hurt the school? I'm not saying the school should pay the players, but if there are boosters that want to pay them or if they want to get some cash for signing autographs or selling jerseys, why not? They don't even get money from video games, even though EA uses "their" stats, their numbers, their positions, and even uses their likeness on the cover of the game. Why shouldn't they be able to get a cut of that pie?
