So it seems pretty clear that La State or Alabama will represent the SEC West. Who in the heck is going to pull it together and represent the East? Georgia's schedule was supposed to set them up nicely, but they still have to play Florida and Auburn. Florida looks like they have a good remaining schedule, but they don't have a QB for a week or two. I have no idea what to think about S. Carolina.

At this point, I assume Tennessee won't be there, and Vandy/KY obviously won't make it (ever).

A while back I predicted/posted that it would be Georgia. Looking at the schedule UF has remaining, I think they might get back there. They'll lose this week at LSU, but if they get Brantley back, they have a legit shot at beating auburn the next week, then they get UGA at home, and have to go to S. Carolina.

FWIW... If Bama makes it, I'd prefer to play S. Carolina to try to pay them back for last year, or Florida, b/c I'd love to beat the hell out of them again. I can't really get excited about UGA in that game.

I still don't see SC makin it. They're makin a good move puttin Shaw in at QB, but they'll falter like always. UF has the best shot right now. No way they'll beat LSU, but I can see em beatin UGA, unfortunately.

At the beginning of the season I said the winner of the cocktail party would rep the East, and I still believe that...as long as we can get by UT this weekend. We lose this weekend and we're done. Yea, we're tied for first in the East, but we haven't beaten anyone. I haven't seen enough from the Dawgs to give me a ton of hope to beat UT.

Whoever wins the East will be no match for the winner of the West. If I didn't like seein the SEC whip up on other conferences so much I'd say just let Bama and LSU play for the NC.

You have a good chance of winning, as long as a SEC team is not on the schedule...

I pretty much agree with you. I feel like we should beat UT but we always have a hard time up there. I feel like we match up with UF pretty even pending what happens with Brantly. Don't know anything about his back up. But I can't say how many times I thought we had the better team heading into the Cocktail party and still lost. Imo, this is a big factor in Richt's future. No matter our record, if we can't start beating UF then somethings got to give. Especially being that they have a first year head man, It has to start this year or it will never happen under Richt. The big thing to me though is with so many young highly touted players, we should and I emphasize SHOULD continue to get better as the year goes. I see potential for next year if this one finishes out strong. Who knows with Richt and Bozo running the show.

    Just how arrogant is JJ?

Jordan Jefferson spoke last night for the first time since his bar incident. Here are some of the things he said:

“This was a learning experience for me. I can’t imagine anybody in the country going through more than I did. But, I’m now wiser and more aware. God puts people in certain situations. I don’t regret anything. Everything happened for a reason. I’ve learned a lot from this.”

“My personal goal is to be the starter. I am going to do whatever it takes to get there.”

“I was positive I was going to play at LSU again. This was a tough experience for me. Sitting there watching the guys play all these tough games was the hardest thing I’ve done in my life. They did a great job.”

“I would have redshirted if I thought I’d miss seven or eight games. But, I only missed four games. There is a lot of time left in the season.”

“I don’t feel like I’m behind, I’ve been working out a lot. I’ve been in the toughest battles there are. I have a 20-7 record which is very high for a quarterback at LSU. I’ve been leading LSU for three years. When coach (Les) Miles puts me in, I can help this team win.”

“You never know how popular you are until situations like this. I was just trying to go out and be a college student that night. I was enjoying myself with my teammates. A certain situation turned up. The position you play for the football team can cost you a lot and put you in trouble.”

“I have to accept responsibility for being there. I know I shouldn’t have been there, but everything happens for a reason. I’m a lot wiser.”

“I received a lot of support from different areas. Coach Miles and the team were behind me 100 percent when it was needed. When I get the opportunity to get back on the field, I’ll do what it takes for us to win.”

    :rolleyes::facepalm:

    Stonie Clark

"As a 17 year old freshman, I remember guys like Lance Gunn and Peter Gardere standing up in the locker room talking about how big a rivalry Oklahoma was for 'us'. They talked about fans throwing things at you and spitting on you. Little old ladies talking like sailors and giving the horns down sign two inches from your face. I remember thinking, "I just want to play some football. Make a name for myself and these rivalries belong to the school, not me."
By my junior year at UT, I was as much a part of this rivalry game in my heart and soul as any Longhorn before me and was about to become associated with it for the rest of my life.
1994. Cotton Bowl. Red River Rivalry. 17-10 Texas. 4th and Goal. Ball on the Texas 1 yard line. I had heard the stories of Peter the Great. Cash, with the one handed touchdown catch. Bubba Jacques scooping up a fumble and returning it for a touchdown in a tight TX-OU game. When the center snapped the ball, their line zone blocked right. It was what we refer to as a misdirection play. I was able to see Thompson handing the ball to James Allen on a statue of liberty play. Immediately I changed direction and headed toward the ball carrier. My teammate, Robert Reed had forced James Allen back inside and as he reached for the endzone, I hit him. It was a trainwreck. That God for making me a train. I rolled about 340 at the time and being run over was never a concern of mine. In some of the pictues of the play, my feet were actually in the endzone when I made contact. The hit was pure and the celebration started.
Cotton Spryer. Peter the Great. Bubba Jacques. Kerry Cash................Stonie Clark.

We all see Oklahoma has some vulnerabilities, and hopefully this week our coaching staff was able to identify some of those and put together a game plan that puts our guys in a position to win. That's all that can really be asked of the coaching staff. The rest has to be the guys wanting to be great. Wanting to be remember. Have they dreamed and visualized making plays in this game? Do they want it so badly that the tears stream from their faces as they walk down the tunnel? Are they screaming inside because of the liquid fire running through their veins and up their spine? Folks, I save exaggerations for more important things like penis size and what age I actually was when I started losing my hair. This is real. This is TX-OU."
