Bro… you guys wouldn’t believe what I just found out.
I was going to take the truck for a spin to see anymore problems she had. Now I start the truck. And put it in reverse no power I put in drive no power. I look at the gauge on the dash it says I’m in neutral. That was what he meant by no power. Fml
My brother is a retard. But it’s getting here. Work on it again tomorrow. thank you all for the help today. Lyk how this goes tomorrow

    Ehhhh, WTF?
Maybe go to the opposite side of the transmission and look at the shift rod/cable.
See what it does when you shift gears?

I'd suggest doing what @TnShooter said then, sounds like the shift cable either is broken or disconnected.

I wonder what would happen if you put the gear selector in 4 or L?
As those 2 positions are NOT controlled by the shifter.
Would they show up on the dash?

It may not do anything, as you may need to be in 5/D before 4 can be selected.

Actually, you might be better off not trying it.
It will likely set a p0705 code.
But the curious, like me, would definitely try it on our trucks.

If this turns out to be a shift cable issue…..
Well, all I can say is “Sorry OP”.
We over looked the obvious, which is rule #1.

Never ignore the obvious, always check the obvious stuff first.

I can take the blame on this one.

Possible broken shift shaft in transmission?

Move the shifter and watch the nut at the neutral safety switch. See if it moves maybe?

Yea there's a grommet that goes in there to hold it on the stud, on some models you can buy it separately but many you have to get the whole shift cable.

That’s pretty expensive. I’d look on McMasterCarr for a fitting grommet or grab one from a picknpull yard. Lots of different Toyota/Lexus trucks used that same transmission

Then unless the new NSS was installed incorrectly it should not have even cranked over…
