Never used that, but I think it would work.
Easy test would be at the battery.
Place the bread bag wire in the test light jaws.
Then probe side to positive and wire to negative.
If the light lights up, the bread bag wire is ok to use for testing.

Now put your breadtie jumper between Pin 4 (Violet) and 5 (Black/Yellow) of the connector, install the relay and see if the truck starts.

You had the starter relay, STA fuse, and starter plugged in when you did this test?

When I was cleaning up. I noticed that I never plug the sta relay back in. Sorry
But the starter signal wire was plugged in. Going to check the sta relay first thing tomorrow when I get home from work.

The alternator was replaced 6 months ago (or so I think I read). Truck started to die when reversing and wouldn't start back up. I'm leaning toward a bad alternator being put in. Second thought is a wire has been cut/chewed/corroded somewhere along the way.

Good gosh Almighty....if you unplug the small wire on the starter...make a wire to plug into the starter and then touch it to the positive post of the battery...
    will it crank then?

We left off with the Neutral switch being jumped.
But OP forgot to reinstall the relay when testing.
    We’ll see later tonight.

I would definitely consider changing the terminal post or at least cleaning them in order for them to make proper contact with the battery. As simple as it sounds this can be a cause wether your vehicle starts or not. Don't forget to clean the battery post as well.

    Yeah.
I don't know about all these pins (I mean, I understand that all these pieces to be working properly for it to turn over and start with the key). Maybe I missed it, but have you validated that the starter works at all? Take everything else out of the equation and make sure the starter will actually crank. I'd eliminate one thing at a time, and I don't recall that being eliminated yet.
