Glad you're ok. Not sure I've ever seen so little visible damage that's totaled a truck. But it makes sense. What's the buy back price? You could seriously part that joker out. Engine, panels, interior, skewp.

No that does not sound typical of insurance co's in this area.

Unless they are thinking the circumstances might be conducive to someone easily purseing a lot of additional medical claims and they are hoping to get them to agree on a one time settlement for everything, case closed.

Thanks for the advice everyone! Thinking about it, I think I will take the money and run. If I try and ask for more I might be opening up a can of worms.

Regarding the people that want parts, I don't think I could snake parts out of it unless I purchase the truck back. I gave it some thought, but do not have the time and storage space to part it out. Sad thing is everything is in prime condition.

To the guy that got hit by the school bus, I wish you the best on a speedy recovery! Hang in there.

I use Wawanesa Insurance, they are located in your neck of the woods SD.
    (800) 438-4300
    9050 Friar Rd
    San Diego, CA 92108

I guarantee if your record is clean they will beat pricing of your current insurance with the same coverage.
For example, when I was married:

    03 Tacoma
    02 BMW M3
    06 Porsche Turbo Cayenne
Full coverage for $1300. Per year.

I may be wrong, but I think they only provide car insurance in the state of CA.

I'm glad that everyone is okay. It sucks that this like this happens because people don't pay attention, aren't pay attention. Apparently in the world of today there is other things that are more important than looking at the road when you're driving a vehicle. No matter what kind of vehicle you drive(smart car to a big truck), we should always be aware.

I've never been in a serious accident to where a lot of people have been on this board. Seeing from the pictures and stories from what others have said I feel good about driving a Tacoma. Good knowing that if something were to happen I have a decent chance of making it out alive.

It's good that people who were in these life threatening situations are able to come back to TW and post again.

Have a safe recovery. Drive safely out there everyone.
