    12's are ugly IMO.

I had the same dilemma. But then I sat in both and just felt the interior on the 2011 felt cheap. A thin steering wheel and cheesy dash moldings. The only thing I liked better about the 11 was the fully leather wrapped shifter knob. So I got the 2012. I plan to keep the truck for many years so a couple thousand made no difference to me.

I was just at the dealership getting some free maintanence done. While I was waiting I checked out the 2012 model...I have a 2011. A sales walked up taking about how there will be a complete overhaul of the 2013. Not sure what that all includes but he didn't go into details. The only real changes I saw was the steering wheel, stereo, and the front end. Take those out of the picture and the truck is almost exactly the same. Long story short, if it were me and I could get a good deal on a 2011, I would pick it up. Unless I wanted to wait for the 2013 to come out or at least get more info on what e potential changes will be.

    There's my 2¢

I find it hard to believe that Toyota would make the changes to the 2012 for only one year and then do a redesign for 2013, but time will tell.

Bottom line is no one knows except the execs at Toyota what their plans are as of right now. Not even some random salesman

With these changes happening for 2012, people are expecting a 3rd gen to roll out no earlier than 2014, but it's all speculation.

True, even the base stereo in the 2012 is awesome. Voice commands and all! I had one for a few days and honestly, had I kept the truck, I would not have upgraded the base stereo. But now that I have Entune I would not get the base stereo either ;)

Thanks, I probably could BUT I loveee my truck, and I'm not a fan of the 2012... That's half the reason I decided to go to the dealer that day and see if I could get a 2011 before it was too late.

Op I think at the end of the day whether you get a 2011 or 2012, you'll love your truck. After you buy it it's your truck and you wouldn't trade it for the world... Unless it's a ranger, in that case I'd trade it for a chocolate bar.

I was in he same boat, but the interior changes sold me on the 12's. I got the base stereo (which is still nice IMO) I just couldn't justify spening the extra $$ to upgrade to the Entune. I'm totally happy with my decision on getting the newer model and now when I see the 11's, they just seem outdated to me especially when I see the interiors on the previous years.

I say 2011, I like the new 2012 front ends but I like the 2011's more plus you could probably get a way better deal on one rather than the 2012.

Well I will add my 2 cents worth - since i have had both - Yup my 2011 Tacoma was totalled a few weeks ago (dodge dually rearended me an the taco held up well) - so i bought a 2012 a couple days ago and the interior has been stepped up quite a bit - plus like what was previously stated - yes you might pick up a 2011 for cheaper but the style will overall cost you more on trade in since its considered older model. Overall they are both great truck and basically the same but for the overall new look and since your buying new you really hould buy the current newer model. Your decision but im happy with the 2012 right now .....

The interior was the deciding factor. It just seemed much more modern. I got a 2012 dbl trd sport lb with entune. I think this blue is the best color.

if you can get a 2012 for the discounted price of a 2011, get the '12.... if not, stick with the '11. All the 2011's are starting to get discounted a lot to make room for the 2012's, should make for a good deal.

Saw the sales stats from Toyota today, Tacoma sales were up 8.5% in November, after being up almost 20% in October. Could be the fact that there is no longer much competition in this segment, but apparently there are a lot of other people like me who like the 2012. I love mine.

    To come.
I do like the 2012 more than 2011. The steering wheel alone (slightly smaller) is a big deal to me.

But... I decided to wait 'til fall 2012 for the 2013. I don't expect a redesign (In fact, I don't want to see a redesign), but I'm crossing my fingers and praying for a new engine and improved manual V6.

Plus, the wait will make it easier to have enough money to buy the truck AND upgrades around at the same time.

well, i tell ya, ..i'm having a hard time finding a dealer in my AO that has a 2012 w/ the features i want:

    - prerunner (RWD)
    - doublecab
    - shortbed
    - TRD sport

... basically there are a couple but they have more add ons ($$$) like entune, etc.. that i don't want to pay for.. generally, i'm finding these dealers don't seem to eager to find what i'm looking for.. so, they are all quoting me on 2011's, ..some are quoting the same exact vehicle (VIN), even though it's located at some other dealership...

... they are quoting the 2011's lower and lower, ..should i bite on one for a good price, rather than wait too much longer for the "right" 2012 to find it's way here?
