    Define 'best option'.

How you use the truck, your budget, what wheels you use and other factors all are part of the equation.

5100s are fine. maxed out, you will probably get a little over 2" of lift in the front. 1-2" spacers in the rear will get you level/keep the rake, however you want it.

this will fit 265s with a little bit of rub, possibly. thin wheel spacers will keep you from needing to cut or chop anything if you do get a little bit of rub.

whoever said 285s, don't listen to that, unless you want a 3"+ lift and an aftermarket upper control arm, then a bunch of cutting, etc...

If you are just going for a little bit of lift and slightly larger tires, with simple, minimal modification, then do what I said.
(also $$$$, how much money do you want to dump into this ???)

others will chime in and agree with me, and some will try and get you to do a bunch of nonsense that they will make sound easy.
(are you a mechanic, are you doing this yourself? do you know what you are doing?)

My budget is pretty limited and by no stretch of the imagination would I consider my self a mechanic. But I do plan on doing it myself with the help of YouTube lol. I do plan on getting rims and tires but that's another day So right now I'm on the stock tires And rims. It's my daily driver at some point I plan on making it a trail truck but I'm 15 years away from that. So what I'm looking for now is a little bit of a height a little bit bigger tire but nothing crazy. I just sold my 2007 Chevy 1500 with a 6" lift and 35s. And I moved into a 2011 Tacoma base 2.7 4 cylinder manual.

Would you recommend spacers instead of adding a leaf

If you go the 5100 route, it is worth the extra money to get some OME 800 series springs. It will ride so much better. Some OME 885 springs, on the lowest setting of the 5100 would probably get you what you are looking for. With the rear I'd suggest a 3 leaf progressive add a leaf. This is a good budget option. If you plan on actually hauling some weight, new leaf packs will be the way to go. There are so many different ways to lift a Tacoma. The best option all depends on what you will be using your truck for. I ran 265/75R16's before my lift without any rubbing.

    ^this

Get the springs for the front, so you can take them to a shop and have them installed to the 5100s

the rest can be done in the driveway with basic tools.

spacers are ok, if you never load any weight. but the factory leafs are weak, so if you use your truck as a truck, then add a leaf.

    so,
    5100s all around
    ome springs up front
    add a leaf
    new u bolts
    265 tires
possibly some wheel spacers for rubbing (try without first, don't buy them yet)

you will have a functional 2" or so budget lift without any complications.

I have bilstein 6112 5160s on my 2.7 5 speed with deaver stage 3 and camburg uca running wildpeaks e load 265 70 17 and my mpg when stock was about 20 to 21 right now I get about 16.5 but I do have a gfc camper without the camper my mpg was about 18
I drive rather conservative too (about 70 on the freeway)

If I recall the struts and shocks were about 1500 the uca another 700 and deavers were 1400 to give you an idea on costs

Same as @IEsurfer, I went the route of Bilstein 6112 front and 5160s in the rear. SPC upper control arms and Icon 1.5" AAL. All-in it was probably half the cost of Kings. I've been really happy with the ride as it's my daily driver. I'd be interested to hear what people's opinions are of 5100s vs. 6112/5160? From what I've read you get a slightly higher lift with the 5100s but the ride is a little more on the stiff side.

Sorry I been away:annoyed:It is a TJM that I bought from Toytec in Denver. Got a killer deal because they were discontinuing it. Paid a whopping $550. It is from Australia. Has a Smittybuilt xr20 winch. I like it because it doesn't have the bars on the top. It's a 4 cyl so was trying to keep the weight down. :burnrubber:

Yes the 5100's are stiff. But I never slow down for speed bumps and rides great on forest roads. As we know the roads in Colorado are not the best. :stirthepot:

But if I want a smooth ride I drive My Ram 1500 EcoDiesel with air suspension. :D
