2011 Tacoma with Passenger Seatbelt and airbag lights always on

I have a new 2011 Taco with a problem with the passenger airbag and seat belt system. The seat belt warning light is always blinking, no matter if no one is sitting or the seat belt is buckled, and the airbag is always with the "OFF" light on.

Anyone knows how to check it myself before going to the dealer?

 

Check all electrical connections under the seat and seat belt latch. The weight sensor or seat belt will throw an airbag light.

Im leaning towards a bad wight sensor or connection. After checking the connections, disconnect the battery for 10 minutes. Hopefully the light will reset.

If that doesn't work, take it to the dealer, if memory serves me correct, I think the air bag system has a ten year warranty.

 

I checked the connections and the problem persists, any ideas on how to check the sensors?

 

To check the sensor start the truck, sit in the passenger seat and see if it starts blinking the no seatbelt light at you. If it does, it recognizes you are there which = its working.

The toyota sensors are really touchy though. A real heavy guy or a kid jumping on the seat will throw them out of calibration.

I would go to the dealer and get them to clear the codes, they will do a re-calibration and zero all sensors for about 50 bucks.

 

I did that, and finally we discovered that the occupant classifier ECU was the problem, I replaced it and the problem was solved.
