I've been wanting & looking for a nice used Toyota Tacoma for a long time but haven't been able to pull the trigger because of their high resale value. I had basic requirements; wanted dark silver, crew cab, under 80k miles, some "modern features" (bluetooth, rear view camra, etc), and somewhat aggressive look. During my daily scan of craigslist, a 2011 Tacoma popped up that looked exactly how I would have set one up. I loved the look; it was dark, stickers removed, and blacked out some. It was just described as being a basic 4x2 Tacoma with an aftermarket stereo. The owner was great in describing the minor dings here and there and trying not to hide anything negative. I drove it and just loved it. Honestly, I was probably careless with looking it over because I was already loving what I saw. I admittedly was by no means a Tacoma expert, I knew I just liked the looks of them forever. This one was crew cab, silver, had an eclipse touch screen navigation, rear view camera, the 4 doors, and under 80k so it hit my basic requirements. It was still cheaper then most deals I saw for these was a huge plus too. I pulled the trigger.

I did notice the tow hook up immediately which I thought was funny for a 4x2, but ended up doing digging. The previous owner did a great job on keeping documentation and found the build sheet. Looks like it came with the TRD-Off-Road package. I apologize for my Tacoma ignorance, but it also listed the TX Pro 2 package which I never heard of.

I've had the Tacoma for a few months now and still think it was a great buy. Even as a 4x2, I feel like I got really lucky with these surprise packages.

Anyway, since I didn't how common a 4x2 2011 Tacoma TRD-Off Road TX was, I figured I would join and share.

I do have 2 specific questions.
    1) The end cap of the runner board fell off. I tried looking for where to get a replacement but didn't have much luck. Any advice?
    2) Looks like I suffer from a common problem of the blinker light being too close to the plastic, resulting in cracking it. I've read a few threads on aftermarket highlight units, but is there a common 2011 recommendation?

    Thanks

One thing I know for sure, that aint a TRD model much less along a TRD PRO. I might be wrong but I dont think you can get a TRD with a 4X2, you have what I believe is a prerunner.

But... the truck looks great either way. Enjoy it and congrats on finding one. How is the frame?

Frame is great. I did typo... not a TRD PRO... Just TRD-Off Road and the build sheet shows TX Pro 2. I got the Pro swapped around. I was also surprised too as I didn't think it was a normal combo. I can plug the VIN in toyota's site and it is a PreRunner and the TRD Off-Road comes right up. Have the build sheet too to show all this.

    Stock for. Ow
The trd off-road/ trd sport pre-runner trucks (4x2 w/ a rear locker) are a pretty common combo where I’m from.

The tx and tx pro packages were add-ons that got you the trd beadlocks, trd exhaust, and the decals. On your truck looks like the decals are gone. On your wheels somebody had removed the rock rings and put the studs back in. Which IMO is a good look may have to try it on my truck

That grey is one of the best colors Toyota offered... good looking truck op and welcome to Tacomaworld

*edit, you’ve got a dif lock button. For sure pre-runner
