Almost every dealer has an Internet Sales Dept. Check each one for 50 miles. If you save a grand or two, it will be worth the drive. You can get the truck serviced locally.

Carmax seemed very well priced, personally. They ship thoroughout your state for free so go on their website, browse locations in FL, then start shipping the ones you're interested in to your location. No obligation and you get a week to return the Tacoma after buying, no questions asked, if you don't like it.

edit: they'll also fix most "problems" with the vehicle within the first month of owning for no charge. For example, we got a new windshield because we bought our Tacoma after dark and didn't see the rock chip on the passenger side.

He speaks the truth! Overstock.com's car buying service (same as USAA) is outstanding, I got my 2011 TX under invoice and then added a trade in to it. I would not buy a car again without it!

Same here. I'll never buy another car, or let any of my loved ones/friend get one without at least taking the three minutes it takes to build one on there.

What dealership did you buy from? I'm about 3 hours away and wouldn't mind making a drive to save 4 ,000

Central Florida Toyota off of Orange Blossom Trail.

When you price it out on Overstock.com, put in 32801 as your zip, get the pricing and then give them a call and ask for Andre (Internet Sales guy) or Todd (Internet Sales manager).

Do you have a trade by chance?

i do have a trade but its not the best. its a 2002 nissan maxima se with 155k miles. i also have $10k to put down as well. dont know if i should let the salesman know that from the start or at the end once they give me a OTD price.
this is my first time buying a new car so im kinda on the fence when a salesperson opens their mouth lol

Don't tell them you have a trade or money to put down. Get the pricing online, get them to agree to it and then tell them you'll be coming in to talk some more.

When you get there, have them get the deal on paper (which they will do on their own generally) and if it's what you agreed to on the phone, tell them you'll do it and you want $X,XXX for your trade. Be sure to go a little high on the trade (I generally go about $1,000 over NADA).

Once they agree to that, throw the cash on the table and tell them you're not paying any dealer fees, you're only paying tax/tags.

If you end up coming to Orlando, let me know and I'll try to meet up with you at the dealership and help out if I can.

Not to thread jack, but do yall think it would be safe to negotiate prices over the phone then once one is settled go get the truck or would the dealer screw somethin up on the truck?

That's perfectly safe. I always try to get the majority of the negotiating done over the phone, have them prepare the docs, go in, sign and drive. :D

As long as you make them realize you are just trying to be a good buyer, and not trying to screw them over (whether you really are or not doesn't matter).

In my experience, it's best to deal over e-mail. Have them send you the invoice with all vehicle info and work on chopping the price. If you do it by phone, you're likely to get the bait and switch!

PM sent - check out the pricing and let me know if you have any questions.

Once you pick a dealer, based off of the ones that Overstock.com sends you, let me know and I'd be happy to call them and see if I can negotiate for you.
