So unless this trip is late May, I'm not going to make it. Looks like I'll be stuck with work for the first few weeks

If this trip looks like it might not go as planned, I will be happy to take over planning/scheduling/leading duties.

I have been to Moab a few times over the last few years (and three times in the last 6 months), and feel quite comfortable with the area and wheeling challenges it presents (the challenges that our trucks are capable of, that is to say).

    SO:

Would anyone like me to assume control of this meet? (If the OP doesn't respond/would prefer not to be in charge any longer).

    Here are my thoughts:
    • Meet in the SLC area on Friday, May 6th, and head down to Moab that evening.
    • For those that cannot make it on Friday, we could arrange a meeting time/place in Moab on Saturday, May 7th.

The length/location of the remainder of the trip can be decided at a later date. I know I will personally be in the Moab area for 1-2 weeks in early May, doing a wide variety of outdoor activities.

Note regarding the date: I chose this date so students at the U of U and SLCC can attend without any end of term complications.

    Thoughts?

That could potentially work. I'm sure some of the other Utah members that know Moab might be able to facilitate that date. I can't promise I will still be in the area that late in May, as I drive home for the summer when the money runs out!

Its a little bit too far in the future to completely commit to May, but at this point, I dont see any reason why it would be a problem. I may not bring out my truck though. We'll just have to see what I have in 3 months.

It appears this OP is out, so re-firing this trip up on page 7 is difficult, if not impossible.

Jan, I suggest you start a new thread. That way you can put all the info in post #1 and edit it as necessary.

Just post a link to it on this thread.

Glad you're back. Have you still not picked a date though? Its kinda getting down to the wire here. Some people need to plan ahead a bit.

Whatever date is fine with me, I can take pretty much any days off. So, I guess it just depends on everyone that is going. what dates you & everyone else is available.

This is your baby. As an organizer, you're just going to have to make some executive decisions and commit to them. Pick a date and stick with it. Some people will be able to make it and others won't.

If you ho hum about it too much, either the trip won't happen at all or a few people will show up and just end up doing their own thing because the organizer never organized.

Decide the dates, recommend camping areas, plan some specifics on trail runs, etc.

I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just trying to help you have a successful trip.
