Having trouble finding a reason that it was worth doing this to an eco boost truck. If they're just going to crawl it they could have gotten by with a regular V6 from Ford

    A few bolts are different.
Why not though? When it comes down to it, for ford, its advertisement to a niche market. In most cases this off road market would be looking at a towing vehicle. In a hobby over run with jeeps and other vehicles that are not F-150's they want to make us think of the F-150 as possibly capable and also an everyday truck that can tow a jeep/small truck ect...

    Go drive one.

Their clam of 28mpg is bullshit. I averaged 15.5 on a 60 mile trip or so.

The 5.0 averaged 18 on the same trip. The eco will burn the tires off though if you want it to.

And this was my 2nd drive of both these trucks. The first test drive produced almost identical results except the eco got worse mileage on the first drive i took.

Its a super nice truck, but the MPG claim they make is wrong.

So at our dealership we sell Ford & Toyota. I have never been a Ford fan and when I got a chance to take one of these out and shoot some video for a commercial I wasnt too happy. The interior is not really "clean" when it comes to design. The truck feels huge, but thats cause I am used to a Tacoma. After a couple days of driving it though, the tacoma feels like crap! I got an average of 17 MPG (compared to my tacoma @ 15). But I got that mpg driving it like I stole it and all around town, no freeway. I was blown away by the low end power. What I dont get is how toyota can produce a v-6 that doesnt compare to this motor. If you took this motor and put in a tacoma, hands down that would be a super truck! I mean the same gas mileage, and actual real power and towing ability. Come on!

I am hopefully going to have my taco sold within the end of this month and I am really having second thoughts about getting a second one. I was going to just wait until the new gen comes out but if its like the new 4-runner I will be getting an eco boost.

Yeah if I wasn't in highschool and actually had money I would consider the ecoboost too. They are sweet trucks and Ford is starting to impress me. They are making good vehicles now that don't shit out in a couple months. I was thinking that when I get a solid grip on money, I will try to drop an ecoboost in my Tacoma. Fuckin power through the roof baby!

I like the truck except they should have thrown a solid axel into it

Another thing is Ford really quietly has been backing warranty stuff WAY stronger than other companies. We at one point carried ford, Toyota, mercury, dodge, jeep, Chrysler, scion, and even Honda. And now ford is just really standing behind vehicles they produce.

I think for me the ultimate would be the eco boost motor in my tacoma + make it part hybrid for toque and fuel and towing reasons..... That would be crazy! Imagine the numbers on the low end
