I'm not sure if this has already been posted or already been discussed, but I'll post it anyways. Everyone knows the 12/13 TRD Sport side mirrors comes with integrated turn signals, but it maybe possible to add that turn signal to your existing black non-TRD Sport mirrors. With a few exceptions, see below.

I compared the Sport mirror with a non-Sport mirror.

Here's a Sport takin off of a 12. The signal lamp mounts into 4 spots. 2 screw and 2 nipple. It's hard to see from this pic, but one is on the top left of the screw and one is on the bottom right of the screw.
    405A9693-5E2C-4687-9A9C-D0C52DBB98B4-304_db8f00977e60d8cf73c6bdfb33e929dccc286b92.jpg

    Another angle.

Here's non-Sport mirror. You can see all 4 location where the signal lamp mounts up to. As you can see it's technically built the same as the Sport mirrors, but with the exception of the missing plug that plugs into the turn signal lamp.
    ae77d6ba60dbe54cf9fb12b0870ad3cf_zps5e82_183b9ebb7ab4b3fca290467b84fca5b69bfb688d.jpg

For those of you who wants to add the turn signal at a lower price than going with an entirely new housing, I think this would be perfect for you. Main parts that'll you need is the signal lamps and color match mirror covers.

I use this site just to see the prices on the parts, and have at least an estimated total price that you'll probably spend.
    https://parts.olathetoyota.com/2012toyotatacomaparts.html

    - 1 lamp cost $59.03 X2
    - 1 color match mirror cover cost $38.91 X2

    Sub Total= $195.88
Shipping= $68.56(that's shipping to HI. For the mainlands guys there's a choice for ground shipping $23.51 your total would then be $219.39.)
    Total= $264.44

Your also going to have to get wires and screws. Since the non-Sport doesn't come with a plug or screw. You're going to have to run your own wiring. As for the size of the screw I'm not sure on that one, but I'm pretty sure you can find one at your local hardware store.

I'd also priced out how much would it be if you just end up buying the whole mirror assembly.

-Mirro Assy. (it doesn't come with the color matching mirror cover)
Left Side $184.98 (I'm not sure why the price difference)
    Right Side $178.87

    -Mirror Covers
    $38.91 each-X2

    Sub Total- $441.67
Sipping- $154.58(that's shipping to HI. mainland ground shipping $53.00)
Total- $596.25 to HI. Mainland- $494.67
    ^^^that's fuckin ridiculous huh.

As you can see when you add the feature yourself you'll be spending less, then if you're gonna all out and buy a whole new mirror assembly which doesn't even come with color match covers.

Some will argue that there's cheaper options out there like Muth turn signal. But some member(s) like to keeps things as OEM as possible, like myself. That's why I said it "maybe possible", cause I've never seen anyone just add the turn signal lamp and a mirror cover to their existing mirrors.

Here's how you actually remove the cover from 2012/13 side mirror.

First pop off your mirror lense, pulling up gently from the bottom until it pops off.
How it looks like from the back. You can see how it attaches to the motor.

Now you can see the inside of the assy and how the cover attaches to the mirror assy. Red circles indicate how the cover locks to the mirror motor assy. You can use a flat head screwdriver to release the tabs.

Here's your non-Sport mirror cover. You can see the locking tabs.

^^pic courtesy of Hot Taco. much props.

Above procedure is also perfect for those who just wants to color match their existing mirror cover.

Here's the steps into removing the door panel and mirror assembly.
    http://shop.muthco.com/content/pdf/install/21001150.pdf

Wiring the signal lamp is easy. All you need is 2 wires for each lamp. Ones for ground and one to the fuse panel.

Do you happen to know if the 12-13's are wired to the door for the mirrors even if the truck isn't equipped with them? It looks like you have an 08 but I was just wondering if you knew. nice write up btw. Gonna sub it in case I decide to give it a try. Like the look but like you said, dunno if i think its worth $400+. So the way you're suggesting makes it more reasonable. Thanks.

hirod- that I'm not 100% sure of, only way to find out is to remove your door panel and look at the connection. You never know it might be there. Toyota tends to wire things up even though the feature isn't there. Maybe someone could chime in.

I had went to the dealership months ago because I was getting something done there. I had talked to the Parts Person about getting mirrors from the Tacoma Limited and putting them on my TRD OR. I had asked him if it would work and all that would have to be done is the wiring. He couldn't tell me. He couldn't tell me if it was going to work either. Once I found out the almost $700.00 price tag for both mirrors with colour matching, I couldn't believe it.
So the mirrors from the 12'-13' years should be interchangeable(also more wiring for the heated and the signals)? Is that all that it is to get heated mirrors and turn signals? Just installing them and hooking up some electrical?

12-13 mirrors are interchangeable. Heated function doesn't even come stock for the 12-13. If you want heat function, this mod will help you http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/193528-oem-heated-mirrors-diy-mod-14.html

I'm not entirely 100% sure but you might be wired for the turn signal, only way to find out is to remove your door panels and check the mirror plug. I say this because Toyota tend to wire things up even though you don't have that specific feature, that's available in another model.

Only reason why I had to run my own wires, I have an 08.

I know about the mod for the heated mirrors. I just missed having heated mirrors from my last car, 2010 VW Golf. I'm sure it's not that hard to wire them up.

I am going to have to check and see if they have the wiring, I wouldn't be surprised. Is there something that I should be looking for to know? I don't know squat about wiring. I talked to place to see if it would be cheaper to wire up aftermarket lights to the mirrors and I found that it's going to be almost expensive as the dealers. Almost better to get the color matched mirrors and just plug in a few connections. Ha! I would assume it's just a few connections.

Does anyone have pictures of the inside wiring for the Tacoma Limited mirrors with turn signals integrated?

Does anyone know if the harness from the turn signal to the door is a part we can order? I have a 12 and wonder if that would make things easier. Thanks.

I talked to my dealership today and I talked to the Parts Person and he went and talked to a Tech. The Tech said, "he wasn't sure if they connections were going to be the same or not. He'd never had to take apart and opened up at mirror with turn signals in bedded". So the Parts Person had told me what wires to look for on the drivers side door. He even looked in the computer and it said "that the pin connectors are the same from the regular mirror with just power mirror, to the mirrors with turn signals in them. The computer could be labeled with the wrong pin connector(5 pin), who knows. He even said, "the Sport models come with signals in the mirrors too". I didn't know that, I thought it was just the "Limited" that did. So there is a 50/50 chance the wiring for the mirrors without turn signals could already be in there. The mirror diagrams don't show how many wires are running. So I am going to take the drivers side door panel off and check to see what connectors and how many wires and pins are running.

I'll take a picture and post it here when I'm done.

These are the prices in CDN Dollars if you purchase the whole mirror, colored caps from the Dealership.

    $300.00 per mirror - x2
$78.00 per plastic stock cap if you don't want coloured - x2
    $100.00 per colored cap - x2

So as you can tell, it's pretty expensive if you buy the whole mirror, colored caps itself.

I have a 2012 sr5 and put the sport mirrors on and it was plug and play. Truck was already wired for them. Not sure about the base model trucks if they will come wired or not.

That's a good sign for me since that I don't have a base truck. Do you have pictures by any chance? Before, after, during?

Damn, that is expensive as heck. If you think you really want this feature than go for it, but spending that much I'll probably pass on it. You can alway check out Muth Mirrors if you want to save some $$.

I tried looking for that harness in different Toyota parts website, but came out with nothing. I think it's only integrated with the Sport Mirror assembly. Worst thing you can do is run your own wires from the signal lamp to the plug(if your truck is pre-wired).

Oh the price was completely retarded. I know that most of it is mark-up, obvously. I had checked on Amazon.com lastnight and found mirrors(stock, black caps) that are just like OEM, have all the wiring and it was going to cost me just under $160 USD. Not including shipping. Even with shipping I know that it's not going to cost me $540.00 to get them here. I want to do it but it seems like a lot to spend on just mirrors with signals. $150.00 more I can get a new Tonneau cover, which is what I need lol.

Yeah! It's on the "Sport" and "Limited" models. I am not going to know if the wires are in there for the mirrors or not. I am going to do that today and find that out. You're right! Worst case is I have to run my own wiring. But $700.00 seems like a worse case to pay for mirrors with turn signals.
