When stopping on icy roads the abs never worked 100% of the time and ditto for the trac. My 07 Camry worked perfect.....The Taco.....not so much.

Called my dealer where I bought my 2013 Sport to make an appointment for the recall. After waiting 25 minutes on hold on my land line I called them on my cell, when they answered I put my cell phone against the land line phone that was playing their jingle, and told them I'm waiting 25 minutes on hold. They told me they only have 2 techs doing recall work on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I said I would bring my truck in first thing Wednesday morning. They said I would have to leave the truck most of the day. I said the recall says a 50 minute fix. They said most days they have cars left over from the day before, I asked if you only do recalls on Weds, Thurs and Friday how can there be cars left over on Wednesday? They said I would still have to leave the truck most of the day. I called another Toyota dealer and they answered the phone in a few minutes, they said they could give me a 9 o'clock appointment and said it should take around a hour. Going o make the appointment next week. I really hate bringing my truck to the dealer.

    Hi all.

That looks better. My VIN fits in that table - no recall for me.

    Thanks
    Ray.

I got the letter as well. Howeer, my ABS/TRAC/VSC has worked like a champ from day one, only giving me issues if I push it past its limits when it is enabled. Always turns on and off at my request, and given the fact that the ref lash may do more harm then good I am going to fall into the old saying of, "If it ain't broke don't fix it."

In the meantime I am going to continue to off road the piss out of it and have fun. Happy driving all!

It's almost killed me too, but that was my fault because I lifted it and I know that the stability/traction programs become sensitive after a lift situation. It seemed to have receded after I swapped out my 5100's to Coilover's. More so now that I lifted it up back to 2.5-3" of lift where the 5100's were set to.

Well we have had another round of snow and ice here in northern michigan and the fix works well. ABS is functioning and the anti spin out trac control is working too. Mind you.... I have lived in Mich my whole life and hold all neccesary skills to make my way down the road without all these high tech dodads but i payed for the features... it might as well work correctly. Now when I'm tooling down the road sipping my Jack Daniels I'll be protected by technology. I'm just kidding of course.:p
Good luck to the rest of yas and dont worry....its not rocket science for the tech to hook up the cable and download the patch.... I dont like taking my baby to the stealer either.

Had mine fixed today on my 2013 Trd off-road. Light had been on for a couple months but nobody would touch my truck with my kit

Prior to the recall I've had my Tacoma at the dealers for this issue. Lights would come on at various times, in the rain, dry pavement. Came on driving in a straight line on the freeway with bright sunny sky's.
Dealer replaced the ABS actuator even though they could not duplicate the issue. I got the recall letter and is going to the dealer Monday.

Not nessesarily, unless you have noticed any of the safety system lights on on at random. This recall has more to do with the possibility of something going wrong down the line.

I would be concerned because if you got the recall notice & ignored it, shyster lawyers could prey on you. Let's say you have an accident & your braking ability is questioned, they can say you neglected to have the recall done within a reasonable amount of time. It's a hassle but it's free. Maybe you can finagle a free key chain or oil filter from the parts dept. while your waiting, I did. Then again, I worked there for 2 years in the 80's. :p

Just take it in & be done with it (for now). :)

Wouldn't it make sense to get this update done before there is a problem so the computer knows how to handle it? Sounds like this is better as a preventative measure than a true fix, seems to me that if there is some sort of slight connection issue they should of fixed that too...

On a side note, there is a reason why trucks now have traction control and ABS. Although both are annoying in lots of situations when you get in a holy shit situation ON ROAD both systems have saved lives.

Anyways I had my S/C installed last week and they did the TRAC flash right after the S/C flash. They had the truck hooked up to the computer anyways so it made sense, even though I can never recall having a problem.

Dont get me wrong, im not condoning blowing it off. I did mine this past week and glad i did since like i said, theres the possibility of something going wrong. But its not nessesarily a fix that would need attending to right after getting the letter imo. Just my .02 cents

:rofl:Yeah, always be wary of dealerships! Did they say how much they'd charge to replace it?
