How old are the turn signal lamps? DRL should be as bright as when TURN is selected...well almost as bright...

When the turn signals or 4-ways are on, they are normal brightness. I forget to mention, I do have the two 30A fuses installed, but I haven't installed the towing tail relay yet. But I don't see how that could affect the DRL. I'll know more later today after I get the tow harness in. Thanks.

The wire coming from the relay to the front turn signals provides power when DRL or TURN is selected. Maybe the relay has an internal limiter to not make them full bright when DRL is functioning. I've never verified intensity of the TURN lamps while they are DTRL.

No limiter, pilot error. DRL works fine. I'll plug in the whole tale tomorrow or Wednesday. Thanks.

Victory! Here is my summary. First up, big thanks to all those who contributed to my project. Special shout out to Caribe Makaira for staying with me step by step, and providing very helpful pictures and schematics. See his pictures on pages 23 and 33 of this thread in particular.

All of the following pertains to 2012-2015 Tacoma's. Trailer Wire Harness kit PT725-35120 will give you both the live harness, and DRL. You need no extra parts other than what's in the kit, except for 2ea. M6 20mm bolts with 10 mm head (Home Depot has them). Toyota's instructions identify these as 'BOLT M6' on page 9. As my Tacoma came without active harness or DRL, there was no wire sub harness to remove, just the 8 pin flasher relay (1L) and the gray topped 12 pin cover (1M) as shown on the bottom of page 9. Removing them was the hardest part of the project. The 2ea. M6 bolts are to attach the flasher assembly to the junction box. Or if your Tacoma came with DRL (standard on 2013-2015), you will replace sub wire harness 82241-04050 (much easier) with 82241-04060. Likewise replace 81980-04040 flasher assembly with 81980-04050. Running the wire harness to the back hitch was a drag, take your time and follow directions; as best you can. I had the back of my Tacoma up on jack stands; helped access. You might want to invest in a trailer light tester, $3.99 at Harbor Freight (part #66526/64871/57234).

Good luck to all on this project, there are a lot of nuggets in this thread. Next up, backup camera, if that's possible. My rig does have the cam wire running from tailgate to cab so I'm hoping for a stock solution. Subject for another posting.

I entered my new post on '2014 Tacoma base model backup camera install'. Thanks to all in advance.

If you install the missing jumper, yes.

That's like saying the LED flasher is not made for your Tacoma...

Since you removed the original DRL/HAZ/TURN and TOW Flasher and its Y harness and added the LED flasher only, then the junction block mates the wires to the front signal lamps. You do not have towing lamps either or the towing combiner module. So, maybe, you should just return it to OEM status.

It mates the rear circuit to the front circuit. The original relay has a separate internal relay that provides DRL illumination and mates turn and hazard. The towing module is also integrated into the removed relay.

Hi, i have a 2015 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 with a tow package and i would like to ask how to just cut the right wire to disable the orange DRL, the turn signal and the corner one as well, since ill be moving to germany with the truck and the orange DRLs can't be on in order to pass the TUV inspection to get the vehicle registered. I did cut the green/red wire but it didn't do anything, so i took the 1M white plug out and it resulted in disabling the turn signals and the clicking was twice as fast. I did reconnect the wire i cut and it's working as before with DRLs on..(unfortunately). Please help me resolve this issue. I would really appreciate any assistance. Thank you

If you remove the 1M, it must be "filled" by a junction block.

HI, Thank you for such a speedy reply, Caribe! So, can I just remove the entire 1M connector completely and replace it with a junction block you mentioned? Will it disable the DRLs and everything else will stay the same? Or is it just for this red/green wire? I'm a bit confused... Is this block 8267 130360 a Toyota part I can buy? Sorry, I'm good at mechanical stuff and pretty bad at electrical stuff for my Tacoma.
    Thank you.

Yes, secure the removed connector so it doesn't flop around and tape the exposed male terminals also.
Yes, the junction block is a Toyota part.

Thank you. So, to disable the DRLs I remove the 1M white connector completely and tape it like you said. I Just checked the Toyota parts website and it says this item does not fit my 2015 Tacoma. You think it's the right part and the site does not know?
    Thanks again.

Removing the 1M, will disconnect the DRL feature to the Front Turn Signals.
    upload_2021-7-12_1-21-25.jpg
The junction Block will supply left o
and right signal to the Front Turn Signals.

Short Pin is the Junction Block.

Thank you! Yes, looks like Caribe Makaira is a pro, the problem is that I am not. For me this whole thing was very confusing. I'll order the part and when it get here I'll install it and will post my results.
