Man, you weren't kidding. I removed mine this weekend for a light bar fit and holy cow were those bottom clips not messing around (outside-most clips excluded). I had to do the same thing as you with inserting something between the bumper fascia and the grille surround to get the bumper to release them. I used a plastic pry tool for minimal damage, but I don't want to have to be doing it all the time.

I'm going to paint my grille surround this week so I didn't clip those bottom clips in yet -- I want to avoid having to release those clips by force and panel tool again to avoid damaging the bumper clip openings; I might just file down those tabs on the faux grille a bit to avoid the problem in the future actually.

All in all, I still can't complain. I wasn't willing to pay for OEM fit and finish so I'll deal with it like the scrub I am.

Why wait, the same knockoff Chinese grille is on eBay for ~190 right now.

 

Link? The only listing I see near that price that fits 2nd Gen ships from China and is from a guy with 1 feedback. I'll pass.

No doubt they are made in China...that doesn't mean I want to do a one off order and wait for it hoping it doesn't get damaged in the month it takes to get here.

Anyway those links are much better option than I found on my search so thanks for those.

Edit: Noticed that they don't show it with the lettering in place but say they 'come with letter'. Any idea why?

 

They do not post letters because eBay will delete the listing. If you notice the ebay pages are made last a few days then deleted. We have many customers come to our shop with grilles with broken or missing letters to purchase just the letters after buying grilles on eBay and other vendors. We charge $40 for the letters so after the time and hassle it ends up costing them more than just purchasing the grille from us in the first place.
