Looking for an after market AC compressor. What do you suggest? Toyota brand is like 600.00 but I’d rather find something cheaper.

    Thank you!

OEM was Denso. They discontinued making it.
If you find one from a dealership, it's either old stock Desnso, Mahle or Delphi.
I'd go with a Dephi if you can't find a Denso. (Good luck)

I would not buy a 4 Season, or UAC or GPD.

Also, There have been reports that you need to use your old AC sensor on some of the compressors.
The connector is different. Just make sure to compare it before you install the AC. Swapping the senor after the compressor is on the truck is not going to be easy.

I will add that if the compressor failed and there is metal contamination in the system you will need to replace the condenser and flush all the lines and evaporator, there is also a screen inline at the expansion valve that needs to be cleaned or replaced.

Is it? From what I recall looking at dealer prices, it was around $300 or less.
Not sure what the brands are, or if anything from RockAuto is similar.

I paid $209 plus tax, free shipping from Conicelli Toyota ordered online for OEM compressor without the mag clutch. That was a little less than 2 years ago.

Spoke with my Toyota dealership today. The service guy said to buy an aftermarket and they will install it. Toyota having hard time getting the AC compressor for parts.

I have a very good mechanic buddy who I could let install but I’m afraid that there’s more to it then he knows. We also have a AC machine at work to recharge the system when completed. I’m not sure what direction I’ll go.

600 for labor installing AC comp and that includes recharge of AC from dealership.

    That’s where I’m at.

is it possible I blew a line? I did smell a sweet smell just after it stopped working. Will the AC compressor stop working when the fluid is low? Just asking before I go and order a new compressor.
    Thank you

Fluid?? you mean refrigerant 134? or are you talking about PAG oil?

most A/c Systems will cut off if the refrigerant pressure is low.

Make sure you are getting the entire system flushed. If the old compressor left debris in the system, at a minimum, it is going to clog up the filter/screen and it could ruin the new compressor.
I would expect a dealership to know how to flush and pull vacuum, but i would also be an idiot, expecting the dealership to know what they are doing these days.

and while the system is open and empty, they might as well replace all of the seals.

put some sharpie marks on your connections, to see later if they were rotated.

Just went through this on my 2011. Compressor was made by delphi. Denso just slaps their name on it. I found a genuine delphi replacement at not too crazy of a price. Do not recommend any aftermarket versions for this part. During 2011, rhere was soame joint venture thing with gm and toyota was using delphi parts in the ac system, though all the parts flowed through denso, hence the denso tag on the compressor.. if you look at it you will seeit is a delphi style compressor and not denso style.

im getting ready to place order in rock auto. My sticker is truck says manufactured 09/11. The parts I need are to 03/12 and not from 03/12?

    Correct?

I will get the Delphi made comp and Denso condenser. I’m guessing my truck has no AC dryer?

    thank you.

based upon that statement, I am guessing that they went back to Denso parts on 3/12. Yes, 9/11 precedes 3/12 and the correct version is "to 3/12."

The drier is integral to the condensor and cannot be replaced sepaately. Ocassionally you get a part with the caps on the attach ports of the unit missing. If this happens, send it back, as the drier is shot. DO NOT remove those caps until ready to connect the lines. The driers job is to absorb moisture and does so very efficiently.

The sensor on mine was an exact duplicate of the original. Connectors matched. I believe the issue is with the aftermarket parts, not the OEMs.

so, my truck does not have a dryer or its built into the condenser? Sorry, I’m trying to comprehend all this!
    Thank you for your help.

It is built into the condenser.

So, they replaced the AC compressor and the condenser. Dealership recharged system and my AC button is still flashing and does not work. I’m very disappointed. Any ideas what else it could possibly be? Dealership is running diagnostics on it now to see if they can find an answer.

Yeah. That means the A/C amplifier isn't receiving a signal.
Dm93 did a short "To the point" on it in the link below.

Good chance the tensioner & clutch will also need replacing. Dealership did mine for $1600. Had a pregnant wife in bad traffic & AC pumping for hours. Went out a week later
