I'm in the market for a new head unit and I was wondering if any of guys/gals have any pictures of your setup. I would prefer double-din, but if you got single-din post it. May help someone else along the way.

Head Unit: brand, model, price and impression so far.

Installation Kit: brand, model, price and impression so far.

    Thanks in advance :D.

is the stock unit giving you trouble?

I guess you can say I want something fancier and something to build up my system from. I figured I start with the head unit. I do find myself having to crank up the stock unit when my windows are down.

Pretty simple head unit, but does everything you would want it to....except give you more HP...

Glad to hear that the change in the head unit helped out with the volume. That install kit looks great! It matches perfectly. I was actually looking into getting the avh-x3500bhs for my truck.

a head unit is a head unit. The only thing that changes is the dash kit. 2 options, 1 flat black, 1 glossy.

the 3500 is a great unit! this year it went to a 6.1 screen and moved the usb to the back of the unit which i think looks cleaner.. and metra just came out with a plug for our trucks that will retain the factory usb on the new head units part# (AX-TOYUSB) but i dont think this part will be out for another week or so..

    false.

satellite radio ready, bluetooth, nav, RMS watts per channel, built in crossover... just a few things to consider when buying a head unit.

Grillcraft grill, smittybuilt step bars, pioneer 2400bt headunit, Roll&Lock bed cover and weathertech floor mats.
I just installed the pioneer 2400bt. I got it from crutchfield for $299. They give you the face plate, wire harness and instructions on how to do the install. They have 4 options of face plates. I went with the black textured.

Didn't know head units were vehicle specific. So yes, a head unit is a head unit. A head unit in a focus is the same head unit in the Tacoma. Look at the title of the thread, no reason to narrow it down to just "2012+ tacomas".

The reason I made it specific is because I own a 2012 and I wanted to see what install kits there are on the market and what head unit looks best. In other words...calm down

my point is that not all head units are created equal as "a head unit is a head unit" would suggest.
the OP has a 2012 and the dash is different than previous model years.

... and some head units are vehicle specific. :)

the old model steering wheel interface was an aswc which they had a few problems with the new pioneer units.. the new model is the aswc-1 which will work best with the new pioneer units imo
