The alarm on my 2012 goes off at random times. It also double beeps when I lock it, and it used to be that it would only single beep when I locked it.

I did lots of digging on the internet, found this about a 2008 Camry: "The sensor under the hood was faulty and was sending the signal as if the hood was open. Then when I would park the car in the sun, the metal would expand causing the alarm to trigger.

Another problem was that the passenger front door's locking mechanism was not working properly which would cause the car to beep twice when locking (which means that something is open).

They have fixed both the issues and now I hear only one beep when I lock the car. I will keep my ears open for the alarm now but hopefully the above will take care of the alarm problem as well (as the dealer mentioned)."

Based on the above I looked for a hood switch or sensor, but haven't been able to find one. I also read something about adjusting the sensitivity on the alarm box, but I haven't been able to find a box with an adjustment - looked under both sides of the dash and under the hood.

Can anyone help me out with next steps to research and solve this problem?
Anyone know if there is a hood switch or sensor and where it's located?
How do I know if a door lock mechanism isn't working properly?
Where might the alarm box be located?

    Thanks!

If the door lock actuator is weak, the lock will float around between being fully locked and fully unlocked. The body control module thinks that someone is trying to jimmy a lock lever.

Follow the door lock issue and you will likely fix the alarm issue

Any known door lock issue (mechanical, electrical) needs to be resolved first. The alarm "assumes" all that stuff is ok

You must have an aftermarket alarm. Factory is just keyless entry with no alarm and the factory keyless emits a steady beep if you try to lock it with a door open.
