Brand spanking new. Mods include bug splatter and a second tank of gas.
Literally on my second tank of gas and first round of bug spatters on this truck. Noob here. My apologies for the noob question.

Dang, this *should* be easy, since my OEM radio says "AM-SAT" on it. The dealer quoted me $485 to add in XM. Then I was told that my new radio "really isn't set up for satellite" and started steering me to aftermarket.

I am seriously ready to pull the entire thing, put in the Kenwood I pulled from my last car, since I know how to find an XM module for that unit!

So please -- tell me what I need to buy (receiver, cable, and antenna I figure?). All I want to do is to have XM w/o stuff stuck on the new dash and wires all over and the "aux" plug used. (I don't see any hint of a satellite antenna btw).

Thank you. And oh, btw, I've already pirated some great mod info from the forums.....

The (horrible, awful, really bad) XM support people don't know why this radio says "SAT" cause they say it's not "SAT" ready.

From what I gather: The whole sat radio thing is going thru a transition. The older technologies are quickly going "out of stock".

Basically this is what I need: http://www.tss-radio.com/products/toyota-xm-interface-package

    • Vais Technology SL2xD2 Toyota Interface
    • XM Direct Tuner XHD2H1
    • Vehicle Antenna
Total of $239 after rebate; on backorder.

More to follow I'm sure. There is always my $79 stuck-on-the-dash system that plugs into my aux port....

Are you really sure you want XM? $15 a month is kind of expensive, but the worst part is the limited song library they have on every channel. My '12 came with 3 free months, and I'm already sick of it after a month, because they have the same stuff over and over on every channel. MP3/iPod or local for me now.

I've had XM for years. I guess I want it?
