Hey all...I am planning on doing a BHLM on my 2012 Tacoma this weekend. I have searched for a how to on the 2012 BHLM and so far havent been able to find one. There are plenty of great tutorials for the 2nd Gen Tacoma, and i am sure they are very similar. I was just wondering if anyone that has done a 2012 has any last minute hints or tips that i might need before i get started ??

I did the 2012. Same as all the others. Grab the guide that is listed in the free/cheap mods section and you will have no problems.

20% is not bad at all. Totally legal in ABQ

Finished the BHLM...everything from the 2011- Older "How To's" worked perfectly. Only real difference that i noticed was that the head light was held together by about 5 or 6 Phillips screws plus the 2 Torx screws. Made me feel alot better about the re-seal part knowing that it had all of those screws plus the few clips tabs.

Think i'll do mine this weekend. I thought the headlights were made from a different material on 2012's and might be a little different with the whole baking part. Thanks for clarifying.

Just make sure they are in the oven long enough. If not, they are a beeeaattcchh to pull apart. But mine worked out great after I figured that out.

What did you set your oven to and how long did you keep them in there? I'd be screwed if I did that. Thanks for the heads up.

I did mine this weekend and ended up pre-heating to 325, then turning off and baking for 12 minutes. Came out nice and easy after I tried that. I tried it at 300 and 10 minutes, but it was a pain to try and separate. When I put them back together I did do 300 degrees though.

Yeah, what he said. Also.. make sure nothing is touching metal. I use cardboard to make sure the light is not sitting on the rack. 300 degrees 9 min...

Thats the Write up I used step by step. Only difference like a couple of guys have mentioned is that with the first light i found 300 for 10 minutes didnt seem to work. I had to wait for the light to cool down a little then put it back in for another round. With the second light i put the oven to 320 and left it in for a couple of minutes longer ( staring through the oven window ) and when i took it out it came apart with ease on the first try.

hey crush....is the fake vent thing part of your 2012 headlights? I mean that does it come out when you take your headlights off? I have a 12 and was thinking of getting the fake vents color matched to my superwhite taco.
    thanks
