Just put in the Toyota of Canada block heater in my 2012. One thing that I noticed was different than all of the other posts that I've read is how easy they go in. Apparently in 2012 they decided to add a bracket next to where the plug goes into the block. In order to get the plug in, I had to unscrew the bracket, monkey around w/the plug, and then screw the bracket back in. Total pain in the ass especially since you have to turn your hand into a piece of origami to unscrew/rescrew that f'n bolt that holds the bracket...

That must have been a pita! When I did mine a few years back the hardest part of the whole job was finding the mounting hole.

Apparently Toyota had a good idea w/their bracket!

So...is this bracket used to hold it in place or is it still secured to the block with the clip on the block heater?

No..the bracket is bolted into the tranny...or starter from what I can tell. All the bracket seems to do is hold the connector for the O2 sensor (I think that's what it is) away from the engine. They put it in the worlds worst place..complete pain in the ass because there's no room to work and the only way to undo the bolt holding the bracket is with a socket wrench...and you can't really turn it more than one clicks worth at a time...HORRIBLE!

Did you get that bolt and bracket off so you could get the heater in?...or did it defeat you?

How can I get the part number for the kit? I am up in NC mountains and really like my pre-heated ride. I just acquired a 13 DCSB Off Road and I would like to put one in.
