2012 Double Cab Speaker Adapters

I don't know if this question has been addressed already, but on a 12 Double Cab, if I want to just upgrade the speakers to a better quality but keep the same sizes do I need the speaker adapters? Can I just swap out the factory for aftermarket and that's it?

If the 12 doors are the same as the 05-11, which I think they are, there are no direct fit speakers. The stock speakers are in a plastic frame and the speakers are not removable from that frame unless you cut them out. Pull the speaker/frame from the door and it's not a standard speaker size hole left in the door.

You can either; cut the stockers out and use the stock frames; cut your own plates from MDF; or buy some.
