2012 DRL Problem

Need some help please. A few weeks ago my D/S headlamp was damaged by a piece of road debris (tire rubber, I think) that was sent airborne by the 18 wheeler that was in front of me going down the highway...it cracked the plastic lens.

A few days later, I noticed that when using my left blinker, it was blinking real fast. I checked, and sure enough, the D/S DRL was out, and not flashing when the left turn blinker was on. I do not know if it had been out since it was hit, and maybe it was just a few days since I used my left turn signal??? I just can't remember.

Anyway, the OEM bulb is 4157NA. Autozone sold me 4157NAK as a replacement. They did not have 4157NA. It is my understanding that the "K" simply refers to Krypton gas used internally giving longer filament/bulb life.

The problem: I have replaced this 3 times in the past few weeks. The bulbs dont appear to be burned out (the filaments are complete, read 0 ohms accross the contacts, and appear normal) but the bulbs stop working. Any ideas why?

Did you touch the bulb because the oils on are skin can greatly reduce the life of automotive light bulbs.

 

Nope...I used a paper towel.

Nevermind...I figured it out. The problem was me and my dumbass!! I apparently wasn't seating the bulb all the way into the receptacle! Man, you really gotta push on that glass to get it to snap in (which I wasn't doing)
