    I'm thoroughly convinced this is the issue. He made a triangle with the tow strap and the only fixed point was at the chain. Triangle wanted to be line, bumper obliged.

    Chains are fine as long as there isn't any type of sudden force applied to it...like if the chain is slack and pulling rig floors it. For slow, controlled pulls they are fine.

    I agree, ain't gonna stop using it for that, works great.

    It is kinda heavy, but it has a spot in the truck which is no longer a daily driver so meh. Oh, and I have two tree straps, shackles, etc.
