Dave how did the install go? How was the quality of the parts you got? I shied from doing this cause it was $500 but u got such a great deal on this I almost can't resist now.

I see on partsgeek they are black "paint to match", how's the finish? The trim on my base is black, as are my current non sport mirrors. Are u just going to install them in black and not paint them to match?
    http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/2012/toyota/tacoma/body_mechanical_-ar-_trim/mirror.html

I ordered a pair, $165 to my front door. $335+ cheaper than OE :)

Bought my mirrors with turn signals from GetAllParts.com for about $165 for the pair, shipping included. Got them in less than a week! They come with the covers off, so painting to match would be a breeze. My truck is black, so I left them as they were and just snapped them in place. The fit is perfect and ARE plug and play. Just connected the wires and the turn signals work, NO modification needed! I had previously ordered them from PartsGeek. PartsGeek sent the correct right side mirror and a STOCK left side mirror without the turn signal. PartsGeek refunded the money, but I now have an extra right side mirror with turn signal. The mirrors from both suppliers look similar with the exception the PartsGeek mirrors come with the covers already installed and the plastic is shiny black.

Overall i'm very happy with the outcome. And painting was not as hard as i thought just time consuming. And I had a electrician friend wire up the tail lights.
The paint was a dead match i would recommend them to everybody. will use them when i do the paint match grill.

The finishes are pretty close. I chose the mirrors from getallparts 'cause they are just a little darker black, closer to OEM.
I read on some threads that the mirrors from partsgeek are NOT p&p.

Here are the part numbers for getallparts.com

    TO1320283
driver side power door mirror, paint to match, with turn signal $78.07

    TO1321283
passenger side power door mirror, paint to match, with turn signal $78.07

    These ARE plug and play.

I got the mirrors from parts geek. The quality looks good but the mirror cover is in fact glossy finished black. While the surrounding trim is flat black.

    Not sure if I should
    - try the mirrors from getallparts and compare
    - just install em' and call it a day
    - paint the covers to match SSM

    Ill post pics
I think I'm leaning towards just installing them and be done w it...

i just installed them. the mirrors from partsgeek are plug and play, no problems. total time including door panel removal per side might be 15-20 min max. its super easy. follow door panel removal instructions on you tube, unplug the connector, undo the 3 10mm bolts and you're done...

a note on the quality of these knock off mirrors... the finish is SLIGHTLY glossier, than stock, but its nothing out of the ordinary because the stock mirror has a gloss to it as well and a matte finish around it, just like these do.

there are some lines in the plastic, mostly all out of sight, from cheap molds (or lack of finishing) but its nothing you're going to notice unless you're inspecting your mirrors really up close. the trim where the mirror met the door at the top of the triangle, was a little off on my drivers side, i used a heat gun and was able to get it to fit up against the gaskets just right. other than that, id say they are about 80-90% the quality of OE. the electric motors move a little slower than stock ones. if i had given toyota $500 for this i would have felt a little burnt. but for $160? why not? if they get jacked up, i can always put the old ones back on easily.

im pretty picky, and i dont object to them. having said that, at the end of the day its a toyota pickup truck and an unbeatable price for the sport mirrors so i accept some trade off...

    Kevin,
So on your truck you didn't have to run any extra wires for the blinker function to work? I have 2014 sr5. I wonder if all the wires are in place on this truck?
    Thanks
    Bill

Bill I'd venture a guess that you're good to go
All I had to do was plug them in on my 2012 base

I think I will paint the mirror covers....

Anyone look into whether there are lane departure mirrors available for tacomas? Wife has them on her Lexus, they are sweet.

WOW this was the easiest mod EVER.

I just took my 2006 to the dealer and traded it for a 2012. BAM! Blinker mirrors. Done!

lol thats exactly what im working on...

the other night i was looking at a newer model sienna has the same mirrors at the 4runner (turn signal, foot lamps, heated mirror) and had the blind spot sensors and the indicator lights where on the mirrors themselves
but after looking at more info, i think i saw that toyota mounted the sensors on the front bumper...so i know i would be able to install the just the mirrors themselves on my housings but would have to make my own sensors

Anyone know how to remove the mirror covers themselves for painting? Do I have to remove the mirror from the body to do so?

Why did u pick regular primer and not the primer specifically for plastic?

Well i bought the paint from automotive touch up... i'll try and paint match them. Paint was about $45 shipped. for primer, clear and color match... the painted mirror covers from toyota are around $70 for the pair.

One thing im finding with these after market signal mirrors is the brightness seems to be pretty dim during the day. almost to the point where it looks like they dont work. at night they are fine. im trying to keep my eyes peeled for a tacoma around here w sport mirrors to compare brightness during the day.

The stock sport ones aren't that bright either unless you put in something brighter
