Is it possible to swap in a brighter bulb?

You circled a section of wiring harness in your picture. Will you please tell me where under the dash that is. I've looked and prior to taking the dash apart I was hoping you could point me in the right direction. I have the entire schematic for the turn signals but am not sure where to begin.

Gents... I just finished up swapping the mirrors on my 14 Taco Off-Road. Picked up some OEM turn signal mirrors with the color matched caps. It is a correct statement that swapping the standard black (Non-turn signal Equipped) mirrors with the Sport version mirrors....NOT PLUG and PLAY! 3 wires vs. 5 wires. The door harness does not have the extra wires for the signals. I called a local Stereo Installer and explained it to him, and he was able to connect wires from the Fuze Box to the existing door harness for a complete contact to the signals. You might have to call around to find a place that will tackle the job, but it's doable. I paid $135 to have the wires ran. Not too bad, but I didn't want to tackle that kind of job. Electrical can be tricky and it's a new truck.

Also, it is a correct statement that the signals are not very bright in the Toyota OEM signals. It is fairly visible from the side angle, but hardly from the front (Daytime). At night...it's fairly visible. Definitely an LED swap for more intensity would be welcome, but I haven't looked into that yet...

Rick what engine is in your truck? i thought all OR had 6 cyl, but not sure. strange how you werent pre-wired but my base truck was plug and play...
good call on going with OE mirrors....
these ones i got from crashparts online for a fraction of the price really have made it clear you get what you pay for. ive found even my passenger side mirror is a little distorted now. im going to use the my stock toyota ones and just swap in the sport specific parts into them in the spring. plus your came painted... they look great on your truck. i kind wish i sprung for the extra $!

Aloha Kevin...sorry about getting back sooner, but I'm on so many TW threads right now, I lost track...lol I have the 4.0 (6cyl). Yeah, not sure why the Off-Road package is not setup in the door harness for the blinker mirrors, other than it's just another way for Toyota to make some extra cash...I'm not sure...:) I had a car audio place near me run the wires for the connection as it only set me back $135. I definitely like the look of the OEM sport mirrors w/blinkers. They aren't cheap for sure! $420 shipped.. Added safety bonus as well...

Kevin...in regards to swapping the bulbs out on the OEM Sports mirrors. When I got mine in the mail before installing them, I had a good visual of the internals and those things are sealed like a MoFo. I'm not saying that you can't get into them, but I wasn't willing to hack up brand new OEM signals to experiment for bulb replacement purposes. They work just fine as is IMO.

^^ You can always tint them to make them more noticeable during the day. I'm still trying to find a tint film instead of utilizing the spray paint type of tint.

In the UK you have to have side markers, I just had the corner running lights (in the headlight assembly) re-wired to blink when the turn signal comes on.

Do any of you that already Boughy the mirrors think you could just swap mirror covers and the wire in your own LEDs? Would these fit a 2005?

You can definitely swap the covers between the Sports mirrors to match the color you want. The covers pop on and off. Wiring in LED's is possible, but requires some good mechanical/electrical talent as the bulbs are sealed in pretty good to the mirror housing. It could be done though!

    Rick,
thanks for all the info...i had no idea it was a sealed bulb.. what a drag...
as i continue to live with these 'aftermarket knock offs', im seriously contemplating just selling them and buying the OE ones from Toyota. the mirror glass shakes on the highway, mirror warpage, and additional wind noise on the highway. they are bugging me...

    lol so it shakes less?
You installed, then removed the aftermarket knockoff sport mirrors? Looks like I'm headed down the same road. Hate doing stuff twice

I was thinking of using the stock mirror glass from my old base mirrors thinking the extra weight might tone it down a bit and not have a warped view on the edge like these knockoff ones.

Guys...I have absolutely no mirror shaking although I have heard others mention it. The OEM mirrors from Toyota should "Not Shake!", aftermarket...not sure... My OEM don't... As calm as a glass of water sitting on the counter...

Tacoma sport mirrors don't come w flood lights. So they use 4runner mirror. Won't be plug and play.

Re: the mirrors themselves, i'm either installing the sport signal into my factor base mirror and using the cover on them (since the factory mirrors accept the signal just requires total disassembly) or purchasing from Toyota.

Yea but my suspension is a bit stiff on road so that makes things shake.
If I was stock I'm sure it wouldn't move
