Not mad just can't believe the ignorance of some of the posters on this thread.

The big east is not a step down for Boise State they now have an automatic bid for the BCS. So that should end some of the whining that they don't deserve to play with the big boys.

I'll believe it when I see it...not hating, just doubting.

Not sure the northern midwest area can produce the athletes that the southeast, and everywhere else for that matter, can produce.

Can you really not believe it? If not, you're giving us all too much credit.

Being top 5 in any conference in the country is fine. I don't disagree with you (or Boise fans) about that. But being top 5 in a conference isn't the same as being in the NC conversation every year like they are.

5th in the SEC this year puts them behind Bama, La State, Arkansas and Georgia (though they actually BEAT UGA, so maybe they'd be 4th in the SEC).

5th in the Big 12 puts them behind Okie St, Kansas St, Baylor and Oklahoma (but two spots ahead of the Longhorns...........). How many of those teams were in the national title hunt? One.

5th in the Big 10 puts them behind Michigan St, Wisconsin, Penn State, and Michigan. How many NC contenders are in that group? Only one of those teams (Mich) finished with fewer than three losses.

My point isn't that they can't hang w/ teams in big conferences, or that they don't bust their asses to do as well as they do. My point is that they don't have to play the same level of competition as other schools that I think are legitimately in the NC conversation. Sure, they could be in the middle of the pack of several 'legit' conferences, but would they be the perennial NC contenders they are now? No.

Also, I hate the field. Call me an asshole if you want, it was a gimmick that's served it's purpose and needs to go away.

True being top 5 conference team does not put them in the title talk every year but when they win that conference there is no more talk of them not earning it.

The other argument I hate is they beat the big name teams because they have time to prepare. Well the last time I checked the other team had just as much time to prepare.

I agree fully w/ your first point, and it was the point I was trying to make. They can probably hold their own in a 'real' conference. I doubt they would win the conference every year. The year they did, though, I'd have no problem putting them in the +1 system that's coming.

I think additional time favors the team that relies on trickeration to win. Still, the big-name teams do have time to prepare, too. I can't disagree that it's a weak argument.

I think the reputation Boise has for trick plays is undeserved. They used the statue of liberty and the hook and lateral against oklahomo and that's where it. Ones from. I've watched a lot of Boise over the last few years and they are pretty straight forward offense. They use a lot of play action and rely heavily on the tight ends as receivers.

Now that we have Harsin as our OC I'm seeing it every week.

I honestly have no problems with play action or using the talent you have for your offense. Mullen has been recruiting so that he can open up the offense. LaDarius Perkins is built more like a receiver but is used as a running back or a scat back. After this past year and what VooDoo has said, I expect Mullen to play a two QB system again.

Surprising to me as well. 6 years? That's a long time...

Also, how about those DB's smoking weed? That's the last thing that UGA needed!!

For some reason I thought it was a 6 year extension.

Since he ended the season on a good note, I would've gave him 1 year...maybe two. They just looked bad at times over the past 2 seasons....for a while last year, I figured he was gonna get shitcanned.

Originally thought it was 5  anyway, do you see the defense improving any? It was pitiful at times throughout the season while being great at others. See the Auburn game and the Arkansas games and then look at the USC, Bama, and LSU games.

If you're talking about State then have no worries. Not sure if you looked into our recruiting class but we killed it on defensive players. I'd imagine we would have a better defense then we did when we went to the gator bowl, progressively getting better over the next 4 years.

Contracts and coaches don't mean shit, any one can be fired at the drop of a hat. Like wise any coach can pack his bags in the same length of time. Now, there may be some monies exchanged, but, the fact remains.

Boise actually does a lot of their recruiting in Cali. They always have a handful of players from ID and the northwest, but they spread it around pretty good now too. They also recruit in Cananada and some in Europe and have even started picking up players from Texas lately. Looks like we might have scored our future QB from Arizona land.

Yeah talkin bout the true bulldogs! :p I saw the recruiting with a couple of juco guys and an early enroller. I expect Mullen to own the recruiting in Mississippi for a few more years as long as he wins the Egg Bowl. I just hope he can beat some bigger teams here and there to get the team moving. I am more confident about this next squad than I am over this past year. I just don't know how far Mullen is gonna take the team this year.
