I'm not a ND fan but their schedule is actually pretty damn stout for an Independant. But I agree....they can come on down to the SEC and get regular ass whoopins.

only reason notre dame is even on tv is cause its a catholic school

 

Negative. Its because they have a huge fan base and a bunch of bandwagon fans. That is why they are always on TV. NBC knows they will have high ratings on Saturday during a Notre Dame game.

 

Notre Dame IS overrated EVERY year. God i wish we could play them and just thump the arrogance outta them...

The lead was 26-6 when West Virginia mounted its final rally. Harris directed a 74-yard drive capped off by a 17-yard TD pass to Grantis Bell that cut the lead to 26-13 with 3:32 remaining in the third quarter. Harris then looked to capitalize on Rice's lone mistake of the day -- a pass intercepted by Willie Edwards -- that gave the Mountaineers the ball on the Irish 26.

The Notre Dame defense had a different agenda. On first down, Flash Gordon dropped Harris for a two-yard loss on an option play. On second down, Stan Smagala deflected a pass in the end zone. On third down, Frank Stams and Arnold Ale sacked Harris for a 12-yard loss that knocked West Virginia out of field goal range.

"Disaster," said Nehlen, whose offense was limited to 282 yards after averaging 482.7 yards and 42.9 points per game during the season. "That was the turning point. Had we put something on the board there, we're in business. That was a monster."

Rice promptly delivered the final blow to West Virginia's national championship hopes. After he ran 15 yards on a QB draw, Rice hit flanker Ricky Watters with a 57-yard pass that set up a 3-yard TD toss to Frank Jacobs. After Rice ran in for the 2-point conversion, the Irish held an insurmountable 34-13 lead.

The Fiesta Bowl victory completed Holtz's masterpiece, and returned Notre Dame to where Holtz felt it should be -- on top.

 

I really doubt if Notre Dame has many band wagon fans. Alabama, Lsu, they probably have their share of bandwagon fans. Notre Dame is on tv every week but then again in this day and age what team isn't? well maybe somebody like west virginia isn't...

 

1 losing season out of the last 15 or so. Back to winning bowl games last year. Top recruiting classes every year. Top money making school in the country. Whats to fix?

After I found out that ND won with Holtz as coach I wanted the 30 seconds of my life back.

 

That was before i was born, so i don't remember it. I'd say recent and relevant sports history can be within ten years, cuz lets be honest, the kids playing football are ages 18-22 and if they don't remember your "tradition" then they prob don't care about it.

Notre Dame past decade~ 2-7 in bowl games (no BCS victories), 72-44 overall record

WVU past decade~ 5-5 in bowl games (3 BCS victories), 86-29 record overall

NBC still can't make you relevant. PS watch out for our top ten ranking and possible NC appearance...
