Copied this post from Daltex21 over on shaggybevo.com

"These years would all have controversy with only 4 teams. 98- 1 undefeated, 5 one loss teams. 03- none undefeated, 3 one loss teams, 5 two loss teams. 06- two undefeated, 4 one loss teams. 07- none undefeated, 2 one loss teams, 6 two loss teams. 08- 1 undefeated, 7 one loss teams. 09- 5 undefeated. 2010- 3 undefeated, 3 one loss teams. 2011- 1 undefeated, 4 one loss teams. So with that said yes someone is always going to be left out I think 8 just minimizes that but it is what it is."

So basically now instead of arguing over 2 and 3 we now get to argue over over 4 and 5.

There are 68 teams in the NCAA basketball tourney and there's still a 2.5 hour special on ESPN arguing who should/shouldn't have been in. It'll never be perfect. I'll take a 4-team setup over the current system any day.

Good luck to the guys on the selection committee.

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
I think it should be only conference champions allowed to play. Now we have to go through the BS controversy of when OK played for the NC but they lost to Colorado in the Big12 game.
Also, if they wanted anyone to be in it they should have made it an 8 team playoff.

The fans got what we wanted, a playoff.

Hats off to the committee for showing us some love. 4 team playoff is the most plausible/fair/sensible of any playoff system.

Plenty of examples in recent history that shows having only conference champions would be a bad idea. A 3 champs +1 at-large wouldn't be terrible, but only conference champs wouldn't be.

But the same with non conference champions getting in. I'm not saying ALL of the conference champions should be invited. But take it from the most deserving. Like last year it would have been LSU, Oregon, OK St and Wisconsin. That would have made a great playoff. The year before, Auburn, Oregon, TCU and Ohio State.
Yes, TCU wasn't in a major conference at the time but they showed they could handle themselves.

Sounds to me like a little jealousy going on. Conference champions only is a bad, bad idea. Let's take last year as an example - LSU & 'Bama (as much as I don't like them) were BY FAR the best two teams in the country.
Oregon? A joke - the only two good teams they played last year beat the hell out of them (one of my favorites from the LSU/Oregon game was LSU's D-lineman running down their much-vaunted RB from behind, not once but twice). They are good but play a bunch of nobody's....
    TCU? Who do they play?
Ohio State? Naw, not even with urban crier at the helm...

As much as I want a playoff, there needs to be at least 8 and the top 8 at the end of the season makes the most sense - not some committee and definitely not just the conference winners...

I was going to post a whole lot more and had it written out, but I have no reason to. The typical SEC homer comments always come out when someone mentions another conference besides them. You guys are as bad as the retarded Kansas fans I have to deal with here.
