Hey I have a 2012 Tacoma prerunner double cab 2wd I wanna lift and wanna do it the most cost effective way I can. I was gonna go with the 3 inch rough country lift but have decided to go with 4 blistein 5100 shocks after much reading and am wondering how much of a lift I will get with those with my 2wd double cab and if the blises are the best way to go. I’m trying to clear 285s.

You can set the 5100s to different levels of lift up to 3 inches

They're good shocks, tons of guys run them.

Would I get a true 3 inches or 2.5 with the 5100s with it being a light truck (2wd)

The 5100 are made specifically for tacomas, you can get 3 inches of lift from them. It says on the site if you want to check

Spindles. I initially had Bilstein 5100s with OME 887s and LR UCAs. I ended up removing the 887s, putting factory coils back on the 5100s, and installed the Maxtrac 4" spindles. Rides like butter since all factory geometry is retained.

I have looked at there site and many others and it’s says you can get 2.5/3 out of the bliss but I was just wondering if it was a true 2.5 or if I would need spacers etc.. I’m new to this, first lift I have ever done, can I put the Maxtrac 4” spindles on the front with stock UCA? What else would I need to put with them and what would I need to put on the back? Thanks for helping. I’m trying to stay within 700 bucks if possible and it’s 2wd so I don’t go off road much.

Maxtrac spindles are fine with stock ucas. And get the rcd5100's for the rear along with a 2 inch block.

could I put the 4inch Maxtrac spindles in the front and just 2 8 inch blocks in the back and be fine? That would give me 4 inches all around?

Yes, but They would be 2 inch blocks. Not 2 8 inch blocks. You also would need new longer u bolts for the rear.

Thank you buddy. I think that’s the route I’m gonna go as being on the budget I am and I think I may add new shocks and redo the blocks in the back later on. We’re would be a good web site to get the spindles and blocks + U-bolts?? How much you think I’m looking at for all that?

@HeadStrong Off-Road talk to marie.... spindles are around 600, the blocks and u bolts I think are around 100. New shocks for the rear are like 400.
With a 4 inch lift you are maxing out the shock at full drop (articulation). It's going to ride rough like the rear end is bouncing off the ground because it will be. The shocks wont be able to damper the down travel needed.

and if I put 4 inch spins on the front with 2 inch blocks in the rear is that gonna be level? IS there anything else I need to buy to go with the front spins and rear blocks?

I have Hurd blocks are a rough ride that’s why I was gonna go with just a 2.5/3 inch with 5100s all around and add leafs to the back.

I think ima go with 5100s maxed out with coils in the front and maybe some spacers if needed and just add leafs to the rear and hope it clears 33s lol

Talk to Marie at headstrong and she will get you what you are looking for... budget is your downfall at this time.... save up some more and buy what you need/want. Piece it together is a pain, ask me how I know.
I have/had (it's off now) spindle lift on my truck and pieced it together 1 by 1 instead of buying a kit. I finally got it right after a year and half, then broke the power steering rack and pinion. Took everything off about a year ago until I can get the PS fixed.

Yep, this. I still have my LR UCAs installed but you don’t need them at all to get a good alignment. Since all the lift is coming from the spindle itself, all factory geometry and ride quality is retained. Look at my build if you’re curious.
