Did anyone see the recall for 2012 secondary injection pumps number: 20TC01

I was curious if anyone did it and if it has fixed the issue of throwing codes/ going in to limp mode?

has the “Fix” resulted in not needing to do the Hewitt or tuning bypass etc?

I know the extended service warranty of 10 years/ 100,000 miles would replace the pumps/valves if a code was seen and when I called the dealer they said “An inspection” has to be done before the recall to determine the cause of action... no codes = new pumps/ valves... codes= some form of repair... per the local service manager. ..

    thanks all.

Yes, I had mine done I think a little over a year ago. 2012 w/ 70k miles at the time. Have not a problem with it since I took it in.

The dealership kept “ordering the wrong part” or some BS excuse for not having it done in the time frame they said they would, so I got to drive around a 2021 Taco for 2 weeks. Convinced me I am not trading in my 2nd gen for a new one lol.

I had to argue with them for a couple days because I had to bring the truck in to the dealer with the code on. That was a problem because with the code on, the truck goes into limp mode, and you cant’t go over like 20 mph. I had a long stretch of 45/55 mph roads to get to the dealer and thought that was a little dangerous, but they refused to send a tow truck to pick it up (or pay/reimburse for one). I ended up driving it there.

see this seems wrong compared to the announcement ... the announcement makes it sounds like you get valves done regardless and if nothing is wrong they repair if you are having those issues they replace the pump too... no codes needed?

Could vary dealership to dealership, unfortunately. Whatever they did, the service manager said it was about a $2,500-$3,000 fix if I remember correctly. I’ll see if I still have the paper work out in the glovebox.

Mine crapped out last year while I was on the ramp getting on I-95.
Dash lit up like a Christmas Tree and went into limp.
I already knew what it was, backed down the ramp and waddled home at 4am.

Drove to the dealer the next day and they put in the complete "kit" at no charge.

I DID take the Uni-Filter off and put the stock foam one back for the dealer trip, just in case.

My 12 tx pro was done before dealer listing. I figured it was seeing the Toyota owners history on it.
It had a service for a tow company who doesn’t work on vehicles.
The salesman had no clue I asked for records of what was done after trade in.
They did the whole kit also valves etc,
New front diff and axles and bearings.
I’d say it was in limp mode on flatbed.
Hope the new version is better than the original? Been 8k so far and all is well!
Truck had 136k when it crapped out.
Truck was neglected but not abused oil, filter regularly done but diffs trans etc I’ve done since getting it.
Mine was totaled just before thanksgiving and it was slim pickings.
    It’s actually a good rig!
It has the trd cat back wasn’t a fan at first but I’m ok with it now.
I have not done the unifilter mod yet.
She has til 11/2023 for a frame if it fails next yr I’ll keep it.
If not I’ll trade it for Toyota to deal with.

Why don’t you get It replaced at the dealer for free?
