He also doesn't need to be criticized on how he dealt with the situation. Regardless of if you would have done something differently, or you think he should have been more proactive.

Damn guys I bet this is the last time he comes to TW for advice!! look at it from his perspective.. he probably figured that "poking his head around" the underside of his truck WONT FIX THE DAMN FACT THAT IT CUT OFF BY ITSELF! Not to say that I wouldnt have done so my self but this guys a grown ass man! He can take care of this on his own!! Im pretty sure this thread was intended to be a "what do you guys think it is" type deal

If the truck ran out of coolant the temp gauge would have spiked to H! Not to under C!

The sensor needs to be in contact with coolant at all times to read accurately so we can rule out coolant as the leaking fluid.

I'm gonna say it's transmision fluid... which sucks big time for a truck with 2000 miles!

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
If the OP had opened the hood He would have assumed liability. Keeping the hood closed and not touching the vehicle was correct, IMO.

OP if the Dealer says it was "just" a transmission line I would demand a new transmission (and cooler).

Start a file with your State Attorney Generals office and don't tell ANYONE you've done so. Leave that as a SURPRISE!

I'd like to stay updated. Sounds like some kind of lemon, but it would be interesting to see what exactly happened. OP, I hope everything turns out OK.

Okay I was driving on the freeway truck was fully warmed up. And indo all work on my trucks, lifts, oil, belts, spark plugs... So I know my way around my truck... And I was following my fiancée dad to the desert to go dirtbike riding for her little brothers bday. So the time I had was not my own, between changing cars and moving my gear and the tow truck getting there I had no time to look.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
    Get a 2011? :notsure:

No but seriously, red fluid sounds like something went bad in your automatic transmission, that is the only thing I can think of in any vehicle where the fluid would be red, the coolant in my truck is pink.
