Hopefully they make a painted one too. They make both for the Tundras, and Scosche seems to be the better of the two kits.

Let us know how it fits!

This is metra kit? Any reason why you didn't go with matte finish?

    Here is a link:

    http://www.scosche.com/car-audio/product/2680

It's pricey ( $59.95 ), but it has metal brackets and the one kit is for both double and single DIN. The shipping was also free...

it says its painted to match the factory color. but i only see one choice for matte black. is there a glossy option?

Its in, the scosche kit is really nice, still Chinese junk but nice junk. I have a DNX9990HD which might be a hair larger than some Double Dins on the market... it fits it perfect. their metal brackets are ok. not as beefy as factory steel ones but they beat plastic. the matte finish is a good match to those of us with matte black trim.

there is a flange on the metal brackets that face toward the cabin. there are little pegs on the back of dash kit that line up w holes in these flanges. i was having a hard time getting the upper right corner to line up so i just dremmed off the peg on the back of the dash kit. fit flush after that :) had i spent more time aligning it prob woulda been fine.

Also reinstalled the flyzeye, I had an extra base ready, looks great w the 2012 kit, good fit.

really happy everything matches now. the gap around the double din is seamless and the lines around the kit line up well with the truck.

my garage lights are really bright so the cabin has a nasty shadow. i'll get some pictures up in the morning when its sunny out.

Well I installed the Scosche unit with my Pioneer 4400. As mentioned by a previous poster, it is necessary to cut off some posts on the backside of the Trim. Even then, I wasn't able to get the upper three clips to lock with a satisfying snap. I can pry it out far to easily. Sitting in the garage, everything looks like it fits, but Im worried that the top will pop off when I get ripping on a rough road.

In terms of the flat black finish, I'm not too impressed either. The temperature controls are gloss black with metal flecks and don't match well.

On the positive side of the scale, I'd have to say that the metal brackets are excellent and center the HU nicely with the dash kit.

    with the look.

David the scosche kit isn't meant to match your gloss black trim. The metra kit would be an exact match to ur AC controls, gloss metallic.

+1 on the head unit position.

How far down did you dremel the pegs and did you also cut off the two that are supposed to fit into the metal flange? I trimmed down my pegs about 1/16", but still can't get the top row of clips to snap in nice. If you were able to get yours to snap nicely, I might pull it out again and cut them more.

Once I got around to trimming the pegs down flush, everything stapped together quite nicely. I'm still not sure if I'm gonna stick with the Scosche or get a glossy Metra.

Mine snapped into place firmly. For me the top right corner wasn't seating by at least 1/8". Left and center were fine. I took the top right side nubs (both the round one, and the one that looked like a "+" ) of the back of the dash kit and dremmeled them flush. Then the top seated perfectly.

I can see what they are going for by aligning the nubs into the holes of that flange but the tolerances are too tight. Esp considering the way the head unit mounts.

Can somebody confirm the stock non jbl antenna will fit in the aftermarket unit without needing an adapter?
