There is simply no reason why anyone should suffer through abysmal stock audio due to lack of a specific dash kit. when the new dash kits come out, you pull off the kit, and stick the new one in, it MIGHT take 15 minutes. the kit is separate from the HU, they are independent of each other.

i'll get a drivers side view when i get home on sunday night.
i took the photos at angles that would exaggerate any differences in shape. as viewed from the drivers side, even less noticeable. as long as panel gaps are even, its tight, then why not. (you can also get the Metra kit in black)

how much is a dash kit $30? so you're in it for $60 when the real one comes out but youve spent the last 3, 6, 12 months enjoying proper audio. there's no substitute.

I agree with you. It's not like you're making a huge investment with the 2011 kit, and you're not sacrificing any functionality, so why not?

I'll be patient and spend the $30 I save on some more fishing gear! I've had amazing sound in my previous truck for years. I can stand to lists to stock for a bit. Besides, for those of us who've waited this long, why not wait the next five weeks (provided Scosche's estimated delivery date is correct).

Have the last 10+ months revealed nothing about Scosche's estimates?

I wanted my new audio in ASAP, so I went with the black Scosche. I'll change it out whenever a 2012 kit comes out. Whoever drops it first gets my dollars.

Not to dump on Xpsxtaco (great first post, as others have said), but this online listing doesn't guarantee anything. Heck, my very first post back in April showed the part number for the Scosche unit, and aside from the addition of an instruction manual, that's really all we have here with Metra. Granted, this does appear to be good progress, but I would just caution that our optimism should probably be tempered until someone actually has a kit in-hand.

    Either way, nice find.

I personally contacted Metra and was advised that 300 dash kits have been shipped out to various distributers. The Rep. asked what state I reside in and gave me this figure, so I don’t know if this number is specific to my state (Florida) or country wide. At any rate, I as well need to see it to believe it.

True but I'll still hold off. That's my frugal nature.

why would they do that when our trucks are flat black? :frusty:
i almost feel like contrasting against the flat black vents and trim will look worse than the 2011 kit...

The '12 stock ones were HGB as well. I guess they were just trying to match the stock ones. Fine with me cause I don't like the grey pos '11 DD dash kit that is in mine now. Doesn't match anything else.
