mine has a pretty hard vibration on decel if im braking harder than usual . say if im braking at 70 mph to come to a complete stop the vibration will occur beween 30 and 20 mph. im a former master tech with honda so i know my way around a vehicle. im very confident that its not a brake problem since i dont feel anything at higher speeds. i realize this is a truck and you feel every single bump in the road X 10 but i just cant put my finger on what it is. this 2012 seems alot more sensitive than my 03 wich i dont remember anything like this. im kinda stumped if this is a normal characteristic of this truck or maybe there is something to it. it almost feels like a stability issue with me the way its reacting.. also mines a 2012 access cab 5 spd completely stock with 2200 miles.

I look forward to hearing if this fixes the problem. Too bad we will have to pay to fix Toyotas mistake though.

i have the same issue. I still need to take it in to get it looked at. Mine shudders at 20 to 25+ mph. then it goes away.

I have had this problem as well in my 2012. It has gotten worse since I lifted it. I have added a 3º shim to the axle, and added my carrier bearing drop. Still have a slight vibe/shudder at acceleration; typically between 5-9 mph. Before I did the shims and CB drop the acceleration shudder was horrible, felt like the entire rear end was bouncing, shims removed most of that, but I also did not have any other vibes while driving, then added the CB drop and it removed much more of it. Now, I am getting a lot of vibe noise between 20-35 mph, just driving through the neighborhood, it's a bit annoying. I also get a lot of vibration during breaking from around 25-5 mph and it comes from the front end, loud also. Only thing I can think of now is to create my own CB drop spacer at various lengths to see how much more of this vibe/shudder I can remove.

My first truck was a 2009 automatic, Prerunner, DC; and the passenger seat would shake at around 65-75 mph, truck was not lifted.
Traded that one in for a 2011 4x4 automatic, DC; and noticed the same thing, just though it was normal. The 2011 got totalled so that is how I ended up in the 2012

the 65-75mph vibe is so annoying. I thought it was the junk tires they put on it but is it actually drivetrain related?

I assumed so however, I'm running a totally different tire and wheel and it is still there.

^ I am glad I don't have any, because I would go nuts if I did. Pretty sure I had one of the 1st DCSB o/r from NY-VA. I'm in jersey and the Delaware dealer I went to got it from VA. Don't know if that has something to do with it, like maybe they changed something they shouldn't have.

My 2012 is smooth if I ease away from a stop, but it does shudder/pulse rapidly during accel thru first gear if I throttle it somewhat hard - is there a verified fix for that?
(Double cab long bed TRD 4x4)

Otherwise its remarkably smooth at all speeds so far at 6500 miles.

ya I had some time yesterday and read all the pages after psoting, seemes like alot of trucks do it no matter what trim. I would be ripped if my brand new 30+k truck had a vibration. I'll be sure to be extra cautious when test driving my potential purchase . g/luck guys

Shortbed here and mine has it. Not too bad but enough to notice it. I was concerned it would be worse after leveling with 5100s @ 1.75" but it is not any worse.

the vibes we're talking about are not at decel or braking. Im sure some have these type of vibes, but those can be caused by many other reasons that are different from what ewere talking about. They happen only under mild to hard accel from a stop or a slow rolling on 1st and 2nd gear. It is impossible to miss, they are not teeth rattling by any means, but pronounced enough thats you will notice them...even my girlfriend that doesn't even know what 4x4 is, noticed the vibes without men saying a thing about it prior.

it is clearly a driveline vibration and not a rotor/streering/alignment vibe.

If you have vibes on decel/braking, you should be looking at alignment, rotors, steering first.

the vibe happens right off the showroom floor, it doesn't start happening later... it starts from 0 miles. if your new truck doesn't have them, I'm pretty sure you won't. everyone that has noticed these vibes, noticed them right away.

NOT ALL '12 do it, thats the biggest mystery. theres obviously something wrong with the drive linen geometry ( my opinion) on a specific set up on these trucks that makes it so that most do it and not others. the trick is finding out whats different on the ones that don't do it.

I think that probably all or mostly all the '12 's do it. Maybe some people just don't know what to look for etc. I dont know how some would and some wouldnt. Nevertheless maybe I'm wrong and there are truly some out there that don't.
