I have not read this whole thread, but I'm not sure I have ever read on here about people not understanding how to use the tie downs. If there is any complaints about the ride on this site, it may have been under load due to the 3 leaf pack. No one complains about the ride, because its a truck. And x-however many times its been said about enough room in the back seat. It's not a fullsize, so it should not be compaired to one.

This is the first bad review for the Tacoma that I have ever seen. I researched and drove every type of truck available(Both midsize and full size) for about a year before buying mine. Across the board this is the best truck out there in its class in every category. I have never owned a Toyota before this one. I will now never be without one. I plan on this being my, now 12 year old, son's first vehicle. I will buy another Tacoma after this one goes to him. I am looking forward to the time together with my son working on different mods that I have been looking at on this site.

    Fan boy

"Hey I came to a TACOMA forum to ask them about their opinion about the Tacoma and I want to know what the non FAN BOYs think."

Fan boy..good one  If a Tacoma isn't for you based on reviews then by all means feel free to go with other mid-size trucks or stick with your "luxury" cars.

EDIT And yes I know Tacomas don't come with all the cool gadgets and features that other mid-size trucks has to offer. If I wanted all the other features I wouldn't be on my second Tacoma.

OP, sounds like you decided on a 2wd 5-lug 2.7L access cab, excellent choice, I'd recommend the stick since mpg seems important to you. You can get a whole lot better than 20-23 though if you want.

    1. Bed Rail system is SO simple, girlfriend has moved it around on her own with no questions

    2. Yes ride is rough, trucks aren't luxury sedans

    3. if you want great gas mileage then you wouldn't buy it haha

    4. The back seat isn't that bad. I have honest to god fit three men in the back, all 6-2 or taller and one is 6-4 325 division 1 nose tackle. He actually rides back there regularly w/o complain, and he always complains haha

Overall some of this reviews complaints are valid, but face it, there's a reason why Tacoma wins the awards every year

Lets just say there might've been some "bias" in his review .......

his very fat ass can't fit in the back seat when the back seat is almost all the way back, shocker. Im betting the back seat of almost anything is a tight fit for him.

it took him 5 minutes to still not figure out how to re install the cleat that he took off....hmmm it goes back the same way it came off buddy, what happened? took me about 20 secs to figure out how it works, maybe stay at a Holiday Inn Express sometime.

it doesn't have an average fuel consumption gauge. does anyone actually believe those thing enough to make a most have in a car? my chevy had that and it wasn't ever accurate to what my math came up with at the pump, where its dead on.

rides rough......moron, pick up truck dude, and smooth one at that.

for 35k he can get the equal in a full size truck... This is kind of true. You can build a full size 4 door short bed 4x4 chevy that starts at $35k after some rebates. it comes with cloth, bench seat, standard sound, not much more that 4x4 as far as off road gizmos (lockers, skids, a-trac type BS, etc), no bed liner, street tires, shitty wheels, blah blah.... but it is a 35k full size 4x4 truck. At that point its a personal decision on which you feel is getting you more of the money, and the Tacoma does for me.

reliability wise, my Chevy was solid as hell. Kudos to them for that because i had a '89 truck that was just a pile of shit and my 2007 was the polar opposite of that. Never had any issues and it stayed rattled and squeak free its entire life with me.

 No one has said its so so, ok so it can't hold a shit ton of weight, but who expects it to? You can't say its hard or confusing to use though. He compaired it to a full size, and all trucks ride rough. Atleast every one I have been in. If you think all those things about it, then why have one?

Who can't figure out the bed rail tie downs?! If you're not able to figure those things out, you shouldn't be operating a vehicle.

I went from a 2006 4wd F-150 to the tacoma 2010 2wd 4 door and love it. Also pull a Triton 19' center console with no effort at all. My full size days are over with! Keep the technology that my taco doesn't have. If I want a GPS...I know where Bass Pro Shop is at....JMHO

I think your missing the point. Ok so this dipshit can't figure out how to line up a tie down, and points out the obvious of not as much room of a fullsize, and then points out it rides like a truck. What kind of a review is that?

I thought it was funny how big boy bitched about the room in the double cab but then suggests getting the extra cab to save some cash. When I was shopping for mine, my 7 year old was uncomfortable in the back of the extra cab. My double cab has the same room in the back as my xterra, pathfinder and land rover.

I'm not going to re-hash what everyone has already said. I've had a lot of really nice vehicles. My two favorites BY FAR are my 2012 4X4 Tacoma double cab and the 2002 Nissan Xterra.

I will say that if the guy can't figure out the spring lock system on the tie downs, he shouldn't be reviewing vehicles.

no joke man! when the video first started i thought he was reviewing the base model then i realized it was a prerunner and he still towered over that shit. no wonder you can't fit because they don't make backseats for 8'2 people haha.

and i don't care what this video says. i love my 2012. i still get the same pep in my step every time i step outside and see my taco in the driveway.

Me too! I keep finding excuses to go places. I had a Land Rover Discovery II SE7 right before this and NEVER really liked it. I love my Tacoma. Can't wait to upgrade the steel wheels and tires!

When the op buys the taco (and he will if he's going to buy a mid size) he's gonna have to change his name again lol. Idk why anyone reads or watches review videos after they bought the truck. If it suits you who gives a damn what someone else thinks..

Actually, I thought the review was pretty fair.

I onwed a 1st gen for 7 years before going to a SUV then back to a new 2012 TRD Sport.

-- The bed material does feel cheap and it is true the cubby hole covers are flimsy and of low quality. The latch on one of my cubby doors is already broken and the retainer clip snapped off and I have only had the truck for amonth. The railtrack system also is a pain in the rear to use.

-- Fuel economy is in fact pretty bad for vehicles in this class, even for trucks. I am getting 16MPG in mixed driviing compared to 20 MPG mixed on my 1st gen V6. This mileage is fullsize 5.6 L V8 territory, not 4L V6.

-- No power seats, cloth seats etc....for $35,000 on ANY vehicle, you usually get the higher trim materials and options.

-- They are indeed very expensive. But I think the guy might miss the point here. Its not about fullsize vs midsize. Any car in any line has a varying price point depending on trim. It is not about how big the vehicle is compared to another or how much power it has. You can get a full loaded Camry at the high trim level for mid 30's that has nowhere enar the power of a Tundra V8. Its an apples to oranges compairson. He wad reviewing the most expensive Tacoma he got his hands on, with etune, all the bells and whistles, etc.

The only thing I would take exception with in the review is his complaint about ride quality. He was in a TRD offroad with blistein shock. These will be bumpy on any vehicle. Has nothing to do with the truck. It is physics. These shocks are not going to produce a sedan-like ride.

It is true you can get a fullsize with sweet rebates and fully loaded for a lot less than a top of the line midsize. But again, tis an apples to oranges comparison. Someone looking at a midsize is doing so because they do not want or need a fullsize. Gas mileage often has little to do with it. It is more about vehicle size, handling, being able to put it in your garage etc...

The high price on the tacoma has little to do with how big it is or its performance compared to other trucks, whether mid or fullsize. It is all about supply and demand. A popular vehicle will command a higher price. As long as people buy it, the price will continue to remain high without good rebates. The tacoma is the most popular midsize truck on the market and is going to command the highest price for a midsize truck on the market. Thats just the way the economy works. WHy are Nike's more expensive than Reebok? Material has little to do with it. Popularity does. People will pay more for Nike's , even though they really are not getting something that seriously blows away the Reebok in terms of performance.

However, I wouldn't call a vehicle overrated based on the price compared to another vehicle. I would just call it an expensive vehicle. Whether or not you find it overrated is a personal judgement call based on needs and why you purchased the truck.

There is always room for improvement in any vehicle. The tacoma is no exception. It is not perfect. But it is a dependable truck with good offroad capability. People who think they are too expensive won't buy one. THey will get something else.

Bottom line is SLOWJAM (aka TacoNoire) will never get a truck because he will never be satisfied with the model and continue to say he will wait for the next generation "how ever long that takes". So basically this is a pointless poll that he has again created for a truck he will probably never own or will take forever to pull the trigger on purchasing one and to state how some other brands are better than the Tacoma yet he still wants one. He raves about the Nissan and even has a topic on 2012 Jeep vs Tacoma. If you have found a better choice already, which you obviously have (in your eyes), why even continue here on TW with these polls.

I think a few of us have missed what he was trying to achieve with this poll. He is specifically targeting the 2012 and how it is "overrated" not the 2nd gen altogether. He still hasn't given an exact reason on why he dislikes the 2012 so much, but let me guess you don't like the front end, but you like the interior (as stated by TacoNoire). Also he keeps going back and forth with his bullshit. First he says he wants to wait for the next gen to come out and then he states he has been scrounging the internet everyday looking for a "used 05-08 reg cab SR5 with buckets", which is apparently as "rare as a black diamond".

Fanboy or not, I stick by my purchase and I have not regretted it at all. SLOWJAM can continue to wait and troll this forum and get everyone all riled up for nothing. We all admit that the Tacoma has lacked in a few areas, but not enough to where we wouldn't buy it.

This is true. But atleast if your gonna point out issues on any year tacoma, then let them be real issues. Like noisy blower, 3 leaf spring pack.. etc. Don't say a tie down is confusing and not as much room as a fullsize. IMO anyway.
