just wanted to say "WOW", this thread really took off. I read it this morning before work and now it has 7 pages. Seriously, you can't really argue the Tacoma is "Overrated" in the TacomaWorld Forum. Didn't read all 7 pages to find out why OP got banned, but whatever. Tacomas RULE

I'm quite sure, Ford...Chevy...Dodge...and a few of the import manufactures wish they had such an overrated vehicle in the market place.

Sorry, I paid $28,864 + TL for a 2012 ACC TRD OR 4X4 6 spd, and that guy was an idiot. My 5th Toyota pick-up, including a Hilux.

I like them to a point. I have a 2011 and my friend just upgraded his older taco to a 2012. I like the updated styling in the front, and the entertainment center has had a nice upgrade. I don't really like all the black they added in the interior, I like the 2011 interior better. I just think they tried to hard on the inside. Other than that they really didn't change anything. Same engine, same suspension, same power. I was upset cuz I bought my Taco like 6 months before the new one came out at first. But after driving it, it is essentially the exact same truck with a different front end and radio. I love Tacoma's and I would definitely say they are a lifestyle trend. Guy's who buy Taco's tend to keep buying them. Now do you neccessarily need to buy a 2012. No. Only if you absolutely have to buy a new truck. But you can easily buy a 2005-2011 and be just as happy with the performance as they are almost identical. Here's a question, has anybody tried doing a 2012 front clip swap onto a 2011 or older. I'm assuming the brackets and holes for everything are identical if not almost identical.

    I would rate the truck a 7

The frontier and canyon a 6

I picked it cause nothing larger fits in my garage in double cab format. It meets my needs but is a plastic piece of crap overall in the interior and have never seen a frame rust so bad in the midwest. It is now staining my driveway. Need to undercoat/paint the frame the right way.

I like the style, mpg is on par with what it can do. I think they are due for a new engine with better performance and mpg since the fullsize market is starting to get comparable numbers with DOD and other new updates.

FUCK toyota and all the TSB's you know it is a problem fix it not make me fight to get it fixed. Way too many ticky tack things break but most vehicles are this way now and toyota is right there with them.

Who would believe that 2 different people driving the same truck would get different MPG?

Please look at any of the trucks that are "competition" for the Tacoma.

The Dakota is hideous, the Colorado is a joke, I'll never own another Nissan so there goes the Frontier, and the Ranger is Ford's bastard child, neglected and unupdated.

The Tacoma is the clear choice. If this isn't obvious, then you should be looking at a Ridgeline.

I'm on my 4th Taco. They're reliable, simplistic and a large number of modifications available.

Hmmmm, makes me wonder who the guy in the video is working for. The Tacoma bed rails are ultra simple, i don't understand the complications he describes. The ride is a major attraction for me, it handles like a sports car on the road and eats bumps off road. I would not call it a rough ride at all.

Back seats on the doublecab are not that good for fat people, he proved that. Neither is the back seat on an f150, a mercedez 500, a nissan xtera, nissan frontier, dodge ram, or gmc sierra, among many others. Fat people should sit in the front, period.

When he compares other truck manufacturers that offer 'discounts' and small gadgets at the same price he neglects the massive depreciation of those 'other manufacturers' leading to excessive cost of ownership. The gadgets are nothing more than that, gadgets. Al of which can be installed at minimal cost if so desired.

I once owned a loaded 2008 f150 supercrew which i got a huge "family pricing" discount to buy. Nice truck to drive, terrible to pay for fuel, depreciated 70% in three years, numerous problems. Will NEVER buy again.

My Tacoma has all the stuff I'd ever want and then some, plus i know that when trade in time comes i'll get close to what i paid thus the cost of ownership will be the lowest. Hence i will buy another. It's really a no brainer.

I agree.. Size is not an issue.. I am 6'3" and 340lbs. I fit in my taco just fine. It is more room comfortable in the back than my Nissan Titan king cab I had.

The results are so close they're nearly identical, and the small difference could've been caused by any number of things. For all we know the two trucks had different tire pressure...

The Colorado had the V8. The details are in the link.
