I agree. how can any auto enthusiast/analyst not have the mental capability to figure out the cleats on the bed rail system?

the "tool" part...frankly, is approving the video w/o the edit to cover his ignorance. should have at minimum, had someone 'splain it to him. although, I believe he thought himself witty finding use for the small storage box in the rear of the bed. effin journalists.

One can assume that the next gen Tacoma will share styling cues from the new 4Runner, not the Tundra.

I'd look for a six speed auto trans and a new V6 that gets 25+ MPG's.

But not everyone wants a full size truck. I traded a Dodge Ram QC Hemi for mine. There were several reasons but one of them was for a smaller truck. Although the Ram did just barely fit in the garage, once my wife got her new car which was a little bigger, made it too tight to fit both vehicles in the garage. I like parking in my garage. Like I said, there were other reasons, one being mpg's, which are a little better with the Taco. But yes, if I needed/wanted the the full size for the small difference of mpg's, then it would be a no brainer. I loved my Ram, but didn't need the big truck.

I don't think the midsize truck market is dying. it is just being redefined. There will always be buyers who want a truck but do not want the enormous sizes of today's full- size trucks. As long as there is a market for this, someone will build them.

As already pointed out, the decision to go midsize often has more to do with factors other than MPG. Some people just cannot live with a fullsize truck for whatever reason--space, parking, etc...Tacoma is by no means huge by todays fullsize standards. But it is not small either and for some people, their truck abrely fits inside their garage with room to spare. Now inflate this size a bit, add a couple feet in length and a foot in width. You get the picture. A lot of people do not want that and do not need that. But they need or want a truck.

IMO, full size trucks today are bigger than they really need to be. It started with RAM. They built a larger Ram 1500 a while back and everyone had to follow suit as they know image is a big factor and they didnt want a wimpy-looking fullsize truck. The actual physical size of fullsize trucks today is driven more by image than need, IMO. Most fullsize buyers today will never really make use of all that space and cargo room. It is carying around a lot of dead w eight. The Tundra doublecab I test drove was ginormous. You could throw a party in that thing with room to spare. But try parking it in a city work garage with 6/12 foot wide parking spaces and low overhangs. Many people who buy a truck for personal use instead of work needs are going to use it it as a commuter.

This truck is not Overrated. All the other companies need to get their shit together to figure out what people want in a truck. The new front end is gorgeous. Glad I waited a year to get the fresh front end. The Entune is one of the best factory systems out there, and it works better than systems coming from much more expensive brands. Everyone wants to steal my truck. My girl and my dad are always fighting over who gets to borrow it

Toyota OWNS this segment of the market...and everyone knows it.

Only the ignorant and fanboys see it differently.

I don't believe the order of the list has any significance to "best cars for the money"

Tacoma is best in its class...Ram is best in its class, according to the editors of US news & world report.

then I don't understand your premise?

can the Ram not be the "best buy for the money" as well as the Tacoma in their respected classes?

History says the Dodge truck is not a best buy, doubting their methodology is my premise, in their respective classes.

I believe a large part of their methodology is the "for the money" part.

however, having never owned a Ram truck...I can not speak from personal experience.

This guy is an idiot. How can he not figure the rail out in over 5-minutes. I am on my 2nd Tacoma double cab. Had a 2005 and now a 2012 and have been very happy with both. I do share the complaint about not have a mpg reading, especially since I have entune system.

    1. The Honda Ridgline (and the Pilot) is butt ugly. Don't care anything else about them. They're fugly...

    2. I considered a Frontier but never looked beyond an Internet search and the Frontiers are not that much cheaper than the Tacoma.

    3. Resale value on a Tacoma beats them all, HANDS DOWN! I saw several 4 year models, similar features to my 2012 for only $2k to $4k less. No brained there.
